I like it. Probably would want it mounted on the passenger side. On long trips i like to take my shoes off and put them in that location. Right now on solo trip my extinguisher gets buckled in the passenger seat with the seatbelt.

I like this idea a lot, Joey. Like others, my concern is kicking the FE on entry and exit, but also general leg room. I understand you are almost to product final, but it looks to me like it may not have to protrude so far forward on from the seat, like the profile could be slimmed down to move the mount back about in inch.

My usage would probably be occasional. I doubt I would keep the FE mounted full time and would probably be better served strapping my 2D LED Maglite there on a day to day basis. (which, by the way, I've been looking for a way to mount for driver use, so good on ya there.)

The issue is for seat movement. This works if you have your bottom seat all the way up and the entire seat all the way back. But if you need to drop the front of the bottom seat down then you are hitting the F.E. I played around with a few configurations and this made the most sense. The only reason I gave it any room to move is it seems most people have these things calles "spousal units" and "significant others" that sometimes need/want to drive and they tend to be NOT be huge yeti beasts like us so sometimes tend to be "vertically challenged". If you catch my drift.

Well I haven't shown you guys yet what I'm developing for the top of the mount. I will be picking that up in a day or two ;)

Have you designed anything for mounting an extinguisher in place of the 3rd row seat brackets?

I agree with the above, I like to take my shoes off too so I mounted mine on the passenger side. Seat still comes all the way forward too.

I like the look of your bracket though. I just screwed mine to the body.

You're getting ahead of the game :flipoff2:

@retrofive and @Qball know what it is but are sworn to secrecy ;)

I have a good idea...but I'll keep my trap shut...don't want this thread to disappear ;) keep creating cool stuff Joey.

There was a thread maybe a year ago that discussed a tool cage for that location, I forget the details. Perfect location for a mounting system that could hold a fireman's axe, shovel, fire extinguisher, unique tool box/bag, zombie blaster,----.

That might have been me. There were other posts showing tool cages but that based around the gull wing window.

Most vehicle fires are electrical.
Ask any fire fighter and they will tell you a fire extinguisher of that size is worthless on an electrical fire along with most fires even with proper training.
Your mount should hold cable cutters

I've experienced three vehicle fires where they started within my eye shot. One of the three was electrical. In all but one a hand held FE was able to put it out. One just went up, fast! There was no stopping it. I like the cable cutters idea.

Extinguishers will only suppress electrical fires until the extinguisher is empty then its back to burning.
