So if I were to include holster mounting, what standard would I be using? What mounting method?

I don't know that you could get enough people to agree with one type holster mount. There are two many options out there. About the only universal options I can think of right now would be the FOBUS roto holster mount for use with one of their model specific holsters. The other option would be a FAST or Quick Draw magnetic holster.

Lastly, great idea with the switch slots. It's a disease but I could use a few extra options.

Ok so...did some more testing and this time with the Halon bottle. In reality, the H3R's Halon bottle quick release bracket will suck. It takes very little effort to just shuffle your feet around and then sproing! The latch is open. One way of mitigating this is to mount the entire extinguisher 180º. This put the latching mechanism on bottom. Still very easy to open but less likely to bump it open, even after testing. The thing I don't like about that solution is that it puts the nozzle pointing up. I'm not worried about misfire since its an inert gas, but I am concerned about anything falling into the wide mouth nozzle and possibly clogging it. Very bad. Of course, the issue goes away if you are using any of the common push/pull pin releases readily available. You will also notice where the extinguisher is mounted relative to the bracket. It needs to be there because a lot of the nozzles protrude past the body of the extinguisher.

Also to clarify, I marked where I am adding the Toyota button knock-out and the two waterproof switch knock-outs.

Here you can see how the bracket sits relative to the bolts and to the curve of the elevated seat stand. Its flush and touching the carpet. As you can see from the movement of the seat, it doesn't take a whole lot of movement to make the utilization of the top mounting surface to become useless if you need to move the seat forward at all. Also you can see if I move the seat all the way up and all the way back. And then all the down and forward.

^ exactly. Well, kinda :flipoff2:

Anyone thinking about using the H3R's mount will need to reconsider to like something that uses and better clamping system or one that uses the similar push/pull pin.

Also, technically the fire extinguisher *could* be moved back another 1" or so BUT you loose mounting options, you lose switch options and you lose seat position options. I think I have narrowed down the size that will make the most number of people happy.

I was referring more to the remove before flight covering the nozzle! :)

I like the idea of moving it closer and tighter on the seat. That would allow you to angle the mounting plate to match the curve of the floor. This would create a lot more room for the feet to clear getting in and out. It's hard to please everyone.

Yeah bit all extinguishers have different nozzles. :meh:

Then it becomes a one hit wonder. F.E. mounting only.

After testing I don't see this as an issue. I sometimes *might* brush my right foot along the bottom of the bottle but so what. Getting in the truck has been no issue.

The additional pics look really good! I want one! Your last pic illustrates the bottom edge sitting flush on the carpet right next to the floor-mat, but the mounting tabs angled slightly upwards and away from the mounting brackets. My question is when you actually mount it and tighten the bolts to the seat brackets, does it lift the leading edge up off the carpet? The reason I ask is that I have Husky liners that look like they would just come in contact with that edge near the floor-mat.
Sidenote...a cupholder would be a nice addition :D

No, this is just the prototype and the tab was my closest measurements to the angle. I was off a few degrees :flipoff2:

Could you take a pic from the same angle so I can take a look? I likely won't do much to accommodate it but if its severe then perhaps I could modify it. We'll see.

Totally! Thats why we have SOOOO many already making them :flipoff2:

Wouldn't expect any accommodation, just trying to figure out if it would slide over the liners or if I might have to trim a bit.

From the looks of it the mount will go over it. BUT, the good news is the floor mats don't have a lip which was my concern. Looks like the mount's tabs could just be ever so slightly "suggested" into place :flipoff2:

While I you are there, can you pull the seat all the way forward and give me a measurement from the lowest point of the front edge of the set to the floor? I don't have fabric seats nor access to fabric seats around me.

No Cloth? That's barbaric! With the mats, I'm reading about 6 7/8...without mats, I'm getting 7 1/8.
