I like the idea that scottryana has about the passenger side mount as well. I would be in for a drivers and passengers side mount. Because of how small these extinguishers are I wouldn't mind having two available for fire suppression. I can't tell you how many carbecue's I have seen on the side of the road in Arizona that have led to the Interstate being closed because the car or RV ignites the dry weeds and grass then spreads into the surrounding desert. Usually there is one small 2.5lb extinguisher sitting on the side of the road empty in the aftermath. Possibly having two extinguishers handy may have prevented this.

So what you're saying is that you are already trying to up-sell us another product?? :flipoff2::flipoff2:

Maybe one or two...ish

At a minimum some holes to mount things to the top would be nice as you are showing in the pics....some holes I could connect the dots with to make a cutout to holster a pistol into would be better.

It'll be a holster/first aid option. Or first aid for after using whats in the holster :flipoff2:

Typically one could have prevented it...if it got there sooner. :(

My CERT fire marshal trainer kept reiterating that a fire doubles in size every ten seconds. Although this isn't necessarily true scientifically it is a pretty good rule of thumb.

Thank you for taking the time to R&D this product. I am very interested and have been holding off on mounting my fire extinguisher in hopes that I could find a nice mounting solution. With the particular bottle and mount I have it would be better if the front mounting plate followed the same angle as the floor does. This would put the quick pull pin at the proper angle. I have the Safecraft model PB with halon 1211. I could make it work the way you have it as well so I am in for one with black powder coat and no holes drilled on the mounting surface.

So I almost purchased one of these but thought there was no way someone NOT in an ICON was going to rock it. Guess I was wrong :flipoff2:

So if you are mounting it on the top surface, where I currently show no holes, then the caveat is the seat MUST be pushed all the way back. If you are tall then this is moot.

Good point! The other common problem is that a lot of people don't know how to property use an extinguisher to fight a fire. Typically they waste a lot of the agent and run out because of lack of training or knowledge. I think the PASS method is simple and effective.

I was just in India filming two weeks ago. The entire stage we were in caught fire. It was a HUGE stage. No water in the fire sprinklers. First fire extinguisher worked but the guy using it was aiming at the fireballs falling from the ceiling. Second extinguisher was not charged. Third had a small padlock where there is supposed to be a pin. WTF!

I would be mounting it on the flat front surface like you show in the pictures. They only difference is the angle of the pull pin is not correct with the flat mount. To make it perfect it would need some angle to it like the floor under the seat has as it gradually slopes upward. The issue is that the pin will be bumped and brake free if I hit it with a shoe a bit easier at that straight 90 degree angle as opposed to a 45 Degree angle following the curve of the floor. I understand that it would be impossible for you to make one that would fit all of our needs and your universal design will work just fine.

Please put me down for 1 drivers side and 1 passenger side.

Thank you

What's your website?? Where is all this cool stuff you're producing gonna be at, I already told my wife to be prepared when it goes active!

I had to take it offline because some folks already found it. There are three reasons I am not making it public just yet:

1. I don't have final product photos which show what the final production pieces look like. I need to prevent a lot of headaches by limiting the really stupid questions that get repeated constantly :P
2. I want immediate gratification and I know most of MUD does too. So I don't want to put anything on my site that isn't in stock and ready to ship.
3. I was also waiting for the Wits' End DBA to be filed thru the state and I just got that back on Saturday so I'm good to go there ;)

Ok so the issue of hardware just came up. I wasn't going to supply hardware because the mount doesn't require anything more than the two bolts that are already holding down your seats. I am open to supplying hardware, but...for all the mounts I have, not a one is the same. Some are thin and a stainless machine screw is all that is needed. For others it would need to be longer and for the Drake it would require a machine screw with oval head. I can supply a basic pack or just let you guys worry about it. My concern is that you don't have everything you need to actually install if you don't have the hardware you need, and that sucks.

My general take on the that issue would say with all the various brackets out there and mounts I would leave that in the end users hands. Or like said a "basic" kit with NOTE it may not work with all mounts.

NLXTACY, For continuity, here is my post from your post via Facebook technology.

My thoughts; This is a good location, however my fire extinguisher is mounted like this in my Beaver aeroplane. It is prone to "accidental discharge" when entering and exiting. In the LC80 application I don't see this as much of a problem though. I do like the idea of having a switch knock-out, not for any specific reason, but just because. Other items I might see mounted there would be a mini bag for a CPR Pocket mask and quick clot, etc.

More I think about this, I think at least 1 standard size toyota "knock-out" would be cool. I would prefer one towards the center of truck.
