and I'm told depot shelves are empty on 84310-21010, still a few trickling at dealers.

just grabbed two last week of 84310-21010

Hopefully you got that sweet Memorial Day sale discount!
Funny story about the discounts and purchasing from Toyota. I never had luck ordering online and my local dealer wanted to charge me more than what I could find it online for. I was caught between a rock and a hard place. After about 6 months of providing the best price I could find online to my local dealership to price match, they finally changed my pricing to what they charge local shops and I was either at or below what was found online. And in addition they didn't charge me for shipping. Last year I got a H55F well below anywhere else I could find it online so I bought one. I buy enough parts to maintain my shop pricing and the dealership is pretty good about finding what I need. I do need to provide them with the part number as a VIN look up isn't in the cards....

Kurt,

I missed the "non" on your post the first time. Is 28100-60090-84 the Gear Reduction Starter for the '40?

I want to have a solid spare.

Nope, 28100-60090-84 is the non gear reduction, see pic above. Fortunately the gear reduction variant is easy to swap into older Cruisers and readily available both OEM and aftermarket.

The reduction starter is better in any event.

What's the part number on that?

28100-60070-84

There is a $60.00 core charge on these. If the core is not an intact (read fully assembled) OEM gear reduction starter, the core will probably be rejected.

Anyone know where I can get one of these panels? Mine is crusted up.

I don’t know if you’ll find them new anyplace other than the middle east …. It always seems odd things like that are found nos over there

Possibly a used one…. Put a wanted in classified section

If you’re at the no luck point you could try your hand at waterslide decals … if you ever built model planes or cars you know what I’m saying :)

Your hand drawn is good artwork

Reminds me of this:

However… your steady handy work is far better than I would have drawn :)

Maybe just take a thin opaque piece of cream colored plastic and laminate something like a thick black index card to the back with the lettering you want cut out so the light can pass threw when it is on.
