Sooooo, I just told my wife that my new tires would survive being dropped from a plane at 10,000 feet!!!!.... Her response "That's great honey" and she looked at me as if i were crazy o_O (I know the look, cause I get it often)

So, I've decided that I'm tired of unloading and taking seats out and reloading all the crap in my truck every time I go camping and have decided to start using a tent. I went and took an old Ozark Trail 4 person dome and decided if I was going to car camp with a tent, I wanted to be able to stand up in it and that I wanted a cabin .

I looked at a bunch of options from Kodiak down to Coleman instant tent. Ended up going with the Eureka Copper Canyon 4. I'm excited to try it out. Will probably be out in it the last weekend in July and then first multi day at OTMT. I camp in the winter a lot, but the only really windy place I'm somewhat worried about the cabin walls will be Black Balsam.

On another note, do any of you guys want a 4 person Ozark Trail dome tent for your kids or anything? It's probably 8 years old, but nothing really wrong with it. It has a rain fly, but I wouldn't trust it in a downpour.

So... the HVAC unit at my house started making a funny noise on Wednesday. it's an older unit (16 years) and I have been preparing for issues and patching it up by adding Freon every other year as it has a VERY slow leak.
last night, I heard it making a bad noise and was thinking the outside unit was about to check out. About 9:00, I noticed the unit running but blowing hot air. I went outside to find the fan on the outside unit not spinning.
Shut off the unit, spun it and it started fine and started cooling.
Luckily, my neighbor, 2 doors down is an HVAC guy so I sent him a text to ask him if I should shut it completely off or chance it so it could run since it was cooling fine. He said shut it off but that he would come down. At 9:30, that's awesome. He checked the capacitor and it was bad. Had a universal replacement on his truck but after installing, the fan didn't turn. Bad motor. Not one on the truck.

Had to shut the unit off and he is getting a correct capacitor and a new fan. It was 82 degrees in the house this morning and highs in Greer are expected to be 97. Not a good way to start Friday. Mr. Murphy just set up shop at my house!

I see the value in in Coleman's lantern protective cases after busting my Ozark Trail lantern globe. Problem solved.....thank you Folgers! :D

man 2016 has been brutal so far this year. Put about $1200 in needed vehicle repairs. $2500 in braces on my daughter. A tree in the front yard died due to the drought.$500 to drop it. "Wife's" boat is back in the shop. Lightning took out our AC unit. Waiting on insurance $ now but 3k to replace. And yesterday my lawnmower died.
