Hi everyone, a Tepui customer had his Autana roof top tent stolen right off his truck while he and his wife were out climbing in western North Carolina. Please keep your eyes open for this and post up if you have any information to its whereabouts.
It is about 4 years old but still in decent condition. The base is covered in a bunch of stickers, most are from different breweries.
.
Any help would be appreciated. You can post info here or please call Tepui at 800-301-9874 if you have any information.
Thank you!

Well that really sucks. I'm always concerned about this kind of thing whenever I leave my rig unattended to do some exploring. I hope they find the culprit. This does beg the question, as a vehicle based tent would it be covered under the insurance policy?

That sucks....

Kind of a dumb theft. Perhaps they didn't realize it's not exactly the sort of thing easily concealed or used incognito. Here's to hoping anyone lazy enough to do this is also lazy enough to find removing the stickers to be too much hassle. Just saying...

bummer. Might be a good idea to scribe some sort of code in a hidden spot for proof of ownership when confronting a thief...

Not an easy task tho .. at least 2 folks to do it ..
These are not folk's, they are bottom of the lake bottom feeders.

Sorry to hear about the tent, I often worry about mine too.
Just about any tent can be taken off quickly with a couple of thugs working together.

They should have their fingers cut off on the spot for stealing. I hate thieves with a passion.:censor::censor:

I moved my RTT onto my m101 trailer awhile ago and changed the insurance from "uitility trailer" to " tent trailer"; now everything on it and in it would be covered. Prior to that only the trailer itself would covered, not contents or extras.
Pretty much the same here in BC with vehicles too, a tent would not be covered by your auto insurance in most cases and would have to go through home insurance.

I have always prayed to come up on someone out in the wilderness stealing something from my rig. I am always armed so I think that turnabout is fair play. I would take some pics of the criminals and what they were trying to steal. Then can you say naked, no keys, no phone, no food and no water. What are they going to do report you for stealing from them. That is poetic justice and a strong deterrent from them doing something like that again.

^^^ You must be psychic man,i was thinking along the same lines.

really sucks, guess its time to start making some type of lock for the mounts?

I hate dirtbags.... I can't even fathom that other people can just take your stuff. I'll be on the lookout and let some of my friends back home know to look out in NE GA.

About 35 years ago I had a "friend" who lived in the Bremerton, WA area. One day he was out driving through the forest, enjoying the view and came across an un occupied tent. So, he pulled over, cut the ropes and stole it. Problem was, was the owner of said tent was a photographer who was nearby with a camera on a tri-pod. 7 days in lockup for his free meal.

I live full time, since February, 2016, in the Mojave River Forks campground and 8 out of ten days it's just me and spot and the campground employee. I try not to worry about the solar panels and other stuff while I'm at work.
