We took the hood latch apart and replated it as well.

New 60 coolant jug. The cap doesn't appear to be available anymore but, we have one ordered that should work.

Here is the new fuel tank. Its an aluminum unit from manafre. Im not sure why they decided to put the fuel feed and return ports on the back of the tank when they are always going to run toward the front of the rig but aside from that its pretty slick. It also has a really nice skid plate i'll have to snap a photo of. The tank attaches to the tubular cross member with ubolts. we went to lowes and replaced the supplied raw steel u bolts with some nice stainless ones and used nylon locking nuts so there is no chance of them coming loose.

I want to get this tank fitted to my '75. Where will you have the filler? I'm was told that the original filler hole can't be done and it needs to go into a fabricated filler in the rear quarter panel. I never understood why as there should be ample room on the inside of the fender to run a fill line. Thanks.

Dear Santa ....

Wow nice man.

That is an awesome build. Few things grab me these days, but that effort is right up there. I'd forgotten just how good a shorty could look in the hands of a passionate FJ40 addictee. That's what I plan to do when I suddenly come into bags of money and a heap of extra talent. Neither of which are likely to happen any time soon :santa:

Nice to see your sanitary work--inspirational !

I need your skills and time... where can one find them? ;)

Great work, great comeback from the crash!

Thanks for the comments! Gotta admit it's quiet motivational

We had the bezel powder coated black and then painted white. Tucker got it back from paint yesterday and it's kinda creamy color instead of Cygnus white but I really like it. Not sure how noticeable it is in the photo.

I had to move this holder down a bit for the hood latch to clear the tank. Also ended up not using the horn bracket I made...all the powder turned it into a bad grounding point.

60 jug with the late model 40 cap. We had to put a longer hose on it and trim the pick up tube an inch or so but turned out pretty nice. We filled the coolant system up with Toyota red on this build up.

So much excellence. I love catching up on this build.

Not sure if I caught it before, but I love the white steelies. I'm biased, but for the lighter body colors it just beats the factory grey.

Got the front bumper and turn signals installed and took it for a spin around the block this evening. We are anxiously awaiting some mandrel bends to build the exhaust. Also still need to wire up the glow plugs, it seems to light right off without them but it stays around 60 something degrees in the garage. We also still need to put the front doors together before it's entirely road worthy.

Rear heater is hooked up. These parts are reused from the last build.View attachment 1366241

This cover was missing on his first 40 so it was nice to get one from the green truck.

stainless hardware on the defrost vents and and dash pad

Since the interior fuel tank is no longer there we did quiet a bit of work on the seat frame to increase the leg room for the driver and passenger

I welded captive nuts for all the relocated seat mounts. on this one i built up a little boss for the seat frame.

Wow what a great job on your build!! I am also in the process on a 1/73 fj40. I was wondering if you could give a bit more info on the rear heater hoses you used.

Thanks Barrett

It is just regular heater hose that we covered with electrical expanding sleeving and heat shrink.

it is just "perfection" de toute beauté

Thanks Jim always a joy seeing a project come together which im sure you appreciate in your builds as well.
