I've been running the same Evo saw for awhile. I'm not super impressed with it, but for how cheap it is it's pretty good I guess. The stamped steel base isn't very square to the blade and the clamping mechanism isn't great. I guess for truck stuff squareness isn't that important but I build a lot of railing and this saw is not good for repetative type work like that.

I've put a lot of miles on the Makita dry cut saw and it is tons better, however it is more then double the price.

Matt is you makita model lc1230??

That was my old one.... worked great.

Yes. I actually don't personally own one. I used them extensively at one of of my old jobs.

The key with dry cut and cold cut saws is the blade quality and finding a good local blade shop to re sharpen them. It is substantially cheaper to resharpen the blades then replace them.

Wasn't sure if I should put there here or in the spotted thread, but sheet just got real for the new oil change box:

Finished up a grinder stand after having the bits bouncing around in the garage forever. 6BT crank, 14b disk, bit of 1/4" plate, and my Dayton variable speed bench grinder.

Andrea's ears must have been burning when I said I'd buy @mtweller shop smith if I was local.

Got this today as a later birthday present from her.

Finally built a proper vise stand. I used two forklift rims for the base. Nice and heavy!

That's badass!! Must have taken a long while to cut up the rims, and the four leaf clover plate :grinpimp:

It wasn't quick...especially with how methodical (i.e. Slooooow) I work. :D I was impressed how well the hypertherm plasma cut. Outer portions of the rims are 3/8".

Working on a grinder stand rack combo now. Your stand inspired me to build some s***.

If you come across any more of those forklift rims, help a brother out. I want to build a vice stand exactly like that for my 6" parker.

I wish I could have been there to see you but those up @S4Cruiser

I have a hate for those rims from having to change so many tires on them.

Picked this stubby 1/2 inch impact up yesterday on the recommendation of my mechanic. He says in the last year he’s liked the HF Earthquake guns more than his Matco and Snap On stuff. Played with it a bit last night and so far I’m impressed.

So does this mean you're expanding your garage? Requires 480v 85 amp circuit.
