anyone know what brand paint and color would match my bumpers if I wanted to just paint the side moldings? 99 LC

Funny you ask as I was just planning on using vinyl to cover the center strip. We have same color combo. My entire side moldings are pretty banged up but I was able to get them looking reasonable with OEM trim / bumper paint - UCA31 or pn 00258UCA3121 (btw our black code is 202 or 002580020221).

Anyway, couple days back, I pulled out my 3M sample kit and found that Matte Dark Gray was a very close fit. It's a tiny bit darker than the existing center trim strip but it matched nicely to the larger trim pieces. Was hoping

Came in a bottle. brush and pen top. Used it for touching up the small scratches and chips in the trim and bumper. Looks decent, definitely not perfect. The UCA31 color was only for our bumpers and darker trim pieces. That faded center strip in the trim is a different color.

I've wrapped many interiors in the past and this looks pretty easy relatively speaking. Here's one I did last year: Another interior wrap (DINOC CA-421)

I figured the faded center trim strip has a nice recessed edge around it. I'd lay the vinyl, heat so it drops into the groove then cut along that line.

After getting a couple of quotes that were too high to paint them, I am doing my side moldings myself here in a few weeks. Was given this link for color matching paint that is available in a spray can. I will definitely post results when done. I am doing mine the same as my LC, river rock green.

I got my paint from them and it turned out pretty good. I only did the stripe in the center.

Thanks for the link @n55luvr. I like how it looks with your BMW. I been looking around for way to refurb the middle console. Not sure I want to paint it, but I may just try wrapping it with vinyl. My outside trim could also use some work, but its lower priority.

Pardon me if this has been addressed in this thread already (11 pages is a lot), but what's the process for removing the side trim? It would be a lot easier to paint off the car than having to mask all the doors and fenders off. I also have a bit of trim that has come loose as well.

I painted all the trim one color - no silver in the middle. I think it looks so much cleaner this way. Paint can be ordered in the OEM color in a rattle can or by the half gallon for those who are good at spray painting. Mine was done 5 years ago and still looks good.

I'd like to just go ahead and replace all (5) panels on each side instead of painting. This said though, where are you guys picking these up for $500?! I'm getting quoted $600 per side from my local Toyota dealership.

Any insight/direction would be greatly appreciated!!

For 500 you should be able to have them painted professionally. And any color you want. That's what the bumpers and side molding ran me to have painted white. With some gouge fixing on the bumpers as well.

Well its time to paint mine. I have a 2000 white two tone with the grayish gold trim. I never liked the color so Im going to change it to the newer silver trim on the 2005. My plan is to pull the bumpers, running boards, and flares off and paint them. It sounds like the clips on the other trim pieces will need to be replaced if i remove them. Do you guys think the 3m trim tape will be enough to replace them or should I get the clips? Part # and quantity for the clips?

Quote from ServiceKing Collision in Charlotte was $2,263.69.
