I don't see what the issue with having a high amperage breaker for the winch? Surely the winch will have a designed max amperage draw, you would size your breaker appropriately for the load.

I considered this. It’s pretty hard to find a 650A breaker, and anything remotely close gets expensive. Fuses are quite a bit less but then you have to carry spare fusible links, just in case. A battery kill switch is kind of a middle of the road solution - it won’t stop an over current situation but it can prevent them when the winch isn’t in use.

I'm certainly not an electrical wizard so I follow the winch mfgr's recomendations. I have not heard of one that advocates using a breaker.

Definitely over thinking it.

That being said, I do have the main power cable going to the winch disconnected 99% of the time. It just hangs out near the battery. If I need to winch, I need to pop the hood anyways. Takes 5 seconds to attach the cable and winch away. Like many things in my life, it's not required, but I still do it anyways.

Apologies for posting something non-winch related (;)) but the front geometry appears to be taking shape...

All of the main shell is good to go. I'll be at the shop Saturday and Sunday cutting and bending everything and making a jig for the few that will be getting a Gen 2 front.

would love to see how fitment on that winch mount works for the 2008-2012 years.

Looks great. Makes me wish I had a 2016+. Quit teasin' man - I can't wait to get mine!

Jason congratulations on all the hard work and now selling the company. I didn't read the whole thread but can you still fill bumper orders you have been paid for? I sent you $5000 March 16 .

I only sold the bumpers and plans. not the company. Trail Tailor is still mine and all bumpers will be built by me that have been previously ordered with deposits and all others ordered by 5-30-18. I'm still taking orders until 5-30.

Cool beans. Have you shipped any yet and seen a clean fitment.

I guess the only changes between year models are cameras, sensors, (that keep multiplying) and maybe the lights.
So any problems we might run into while installing is maybe punching an extra hole or cutting for lighting ???
I'm not well versed on the difference in years. My 2014 looks the same to me as a 2008.....but I haven't counted holes or measured lights.

Anyway....sounds good that you made some "El coin" from a design. :)

Now if I knew how to remove the double post I would......
