WTF... Geez I hope it's not Trail Gear...

Of course I can't divulge who this company is per the agreement.. But, I can say I feel they bought my designs for a couple of specific models and most will never be produced again, if any at all...

I've signed a 12 month non-compete effective 6-1-2018 on any existing and "released for purchase" designs as of 5-1-2018.

Glad i got my order in!

I’m not a lawyer but I play one on TV. Actually I am a lawyer and depending on the terms of the agreement, if you put a deposit on one, Jason may be in the clear to make you one.

Roy,

Correct, but per the wording... Orders must be paid in full prior to acquisition on 6-1-18. So, 5-30-18 is my drop dead date for taking an order. I can deliver the order anytime afterwards. I can sell 200 units per the agreement if prior to 6-1-18... BUT, If someone backs out I can't put it up for sale ever. Hence the reason for payment in full, no return or refund on order. This will scare most off, but if anyone knows me... there is nothing to worry about. It may take a bit to receive but they will get it.

I sure didn't see this coming.

Well since no one else has said it, congratulations! I hope your hard work and creativity were justly rewarded. 12mos is not a super long non-compete so it'll be interesting to see what you come up with in your sabbatical...

Don't take my comment in any negative way at all. You have worked hard to put out a great product and service, and I wish you nothing but the success that you've earned. I hope this works out in a positive way for you. You have your reasons and I respect that. I just hope this mystery company is actually going to produce the same product as another solution for the 200-series, and not just buying a competitor to kill off a better product line.

I'm too naive about how these sort of things work to understand why this company has to remain secret, but whatever, as long as it works for you.

I just hope BudBuilt doesn't go this way.

No, 12 months isn't that long, but I can't sell really any bumper except for specialty builds that a client sends me the drawings for or personal (not for sale) bumpers in that time period that weren't pre-ordered by 5-5-18 or paid in full by 5-30-18.

I've had a few people PM, email and call me asking if I'm okay and if I'm closing Trail Tailor. Answer is GOD NO... I love building things for cruisers and it's a passion and hobby business for me. I have no plans of going anywhere. If all works right I'll have a 200 by the end of the 12 months and get started on another design.

I've owned and sold a few companies over the past 30 years and one of my old companies was bought to kill it off. I have a feeling the 200 bumpers were the main reason for the purchase. But when I do the math... its almost a 3 year swing in labor/profits for a stroke of a pen and some time I invested. I have no idea if they will reproduce anything or not. At this point I wish them the best and the certified funds cleared my bank.. so it's all good in my hood right now.

12 months seems reasonable to me. If someone else is buying your design and planning to manufacture it they're going to need some lead time to start building inventory, marketing, and selling it.

With all the awesome fab work we've seen on the forum, I'm betting you have enough work to keep you busy for the next 12 months anyway. And hey, those who don't order this month can look forward to the Gen3 bumpers for the 200 in mid 2019 ;)

I always have stuff to do... Orders always need filled. But my main focus will turn to canopy beds for 60, 70 and 80s. I have one I've just started for myself. I have 4 others interested in the conversions as well.

Congrats J. Dont forget about all us little guys$. Hahaha. You make a great product and it shows. Thanks for the 3 or 4 bumpers and sliders. Be in touch soon.
