I too am going 464 with 464 beige monstaliner. Black is to hot. It was 106 today.

Good choice!

holy ****. should run water through your floor to keep it cool :p it gets to around 91 and over where I am, but direct sunlight and black liner would be disastrous. i will hopefully be doing the same, and color match to make it look 'neat'

some pics. Red Oxided the panels. will look at replacing the light surround at some point, just have to find a similar one. or go grab a fibreglass one. the PO had the surround sandwiched and bogged between the 2 pieces of angle for a bit of stability. will see how we go eventually.

well managed to pick up another front headlight surround panel and all that for $30 off ebay :D guy said it was off a '71 ute. different style to the original one i had, but it works. More stuff for the cruiser purists to hate :)

You guys are so lucky with parts being available ! keep it up though

haha yeah mate there are plenty of cruisers around, in my area anyway. When we catch each other driving opposite directions, there's always a mutual nod, thumbs up or wave out the window to a fellow 40 lover, since we don't drive them because we have to; we drive them because we love them :D

 (will definitely be having a few tonight XD

So true mate! I always give a thumbs-up or a wave to a fellow 40 driver when I'm out and about. I may have given you a wave in the past since we both live up this way! :D:beer:

yeah mate we probably have haha. i know there is another shorty around which is exactly the same as mine, but has a wheel carrier on the back of it. Seen him a few times now on the highway

Progress. Where the Hinge sits for the front headlight panel was rusted right out, so I've had to cut and reweld a piece in there. Cut the new piece from the Chassis of the JD parts cruiser :D. Mind you I'm no welder/boilermaker i think i did a half decent job at using the stick. Haven't used one since 2005 honestly, but quickly got the hang of it again :D have since painted it black, which the pic will follow tomorrow. Still have to drill the hole for the Hinge though.

Pic of the front end painted.

And a few pics showing the rear sill area. 2"x3" tube with hole's drilled, top hole being ~32mm which is enough to get a socket in there to tighten the bolts. Will use Stainless bolts for this. also used roughly 20mm of rubber to space the bar out. I think the rubber came from a dodgy 5" body lift from my dads F100. still works well enough :D considering using 2" flat plate to bridge between the original floor and the new rear sill/bar. The bar also stops just before the curve of the bodywork and if it needs extra bracing for the corner, then we will work off the bar etc.

Removed the paint and the checkerplate lining the bottom half of the tub today revealing soo much bog and rust below the vent and door frame. Anyone have any pointers for fixing these areas?

Driver side. Didn't want to break away any more of the bog in the centre, as i believe it was most of the support for the panel :/

Also when i removed the paint from the driver side rear quarter it revealed these 2 sets of hole that were painted over. anyone have any idea what they were for?

And painted the lower barn door hinges so I can use them as tailgate hinges. should work pretty well i think

When I did mine in 2001 I replaced the sills. Plus the floors. Plus the bottoms of the doors. Plus where the floor becomes the firewall. Plus below the vent. And more..

Can you do that? Might be less headache to buy replacement sills with the door recess already pressed in?

well im not exactly going to need the barn door catch, and recess on the sill since im going with a tail gate instead. will leave it flat. as for the other areas, i've got the door surround from the donor cruiser still, and will have to cut below the vents out from it too. they have a hole cut in them, but will be better than nothing to fix that vent panel.

I meant the side sills, not the rear one. The rear one just keep going like you are with that RHS.

I have no idea I'm afraid. Those eBay ones look ok?

Few Pics. Slow updates. Finished the Rear Sill and stanchions, just need to get some panel in there to fix the gap. Took the Doors off so they are out of the way. started to weld the body to the rear sill stanchions right at the rear. more pics tomorrow for hopefully completed welding, and then onto panel repair. Slow mover, but will get there eventually
