Getting ready for the Capital Land Cruisers Spring swap meet and show and shine. The carpet cleaned up great with the spot steam cleaner. I swear I'll eventually get a video of this thing on the water.

The latter (atm) but initially b/c my barn is only 24 feet deep and I wanted to make sure all of the boat was under the roof. The platform slides up under here on those 2 rails.

Swapped out the original battery disconnect switch with the exact same model. The original was dropping 5 volts from one side to the other. It took me a while to track this one down on a European boating website. Two weeks later, had it in hand. I could have cut a bigger hole for a BlueSea switch but since I found the OE switch I went with it.

I ordered a new boat cover and anchor line. The cover came from Westland who actually made the OEM boat cover from 20 years ago. They still have the template and the cover fits perfectly with tower cut outs and velcro closures. It came with all the straps and synch hooks. The covers now come with sewn in air vents.

I got after the wheel bearings this past weekend. I went with the USA made Timkins and stainless steel Bearing Buddies to keep the hub clear of water.

The brakes and spindles were in remarkably good shape.

This seal was ready

I love this HF bearing driver set. I had to sand down the edge of one of them to get the inner bearings seated all the way though.

New bearings/races in and seal installed.

Bearing Buddies installed and ready to go. I rebled the calipers with the pressure bleeder and they work well now.

The first, and dare I say, only boat that'll be serviced by @OTRAMM? Although I'm guessing this is way easier to work on than the truck UZs. Tons of room around the engine with the bulkheads removed.

Ryan pulled the sea water pump (it lives where the A/C compressor would on a non-marinized 1UZ) so I could R&R the impeller. The one in there looked pristine so it's going back in the parts bin.

Got her back from her spa day. New timing belt, serp belt, water pump, and all idler pulleys. Put all the bulk heads back in and secured and put the engine cover on. I don't typically like engine covers in cars but I like this one. Swapped in a new strut for the rear trunk lid. Other than oil changes this should do me for another 10 worry free years.

I'm starting a new project. For some reason Toyota Marine used this overly complicated switching setup. The switch/button panels have a circuit board behind them, each with a serial cable connected to this computer and terminal 12v output strip. The switches on my boat are terribly unreliable and since important things like the bilge pump and nav/anchor lights run through this system if it doesn't work at the wrong time, bad things can happen. So I'm swapping it all out for physical sealed Carling switches, one for each of the 12v loads on the boat. The orange wires and white plug connect in to the harness and go off to the loads.

I've been working in Fusion since Tuesday to build 3d printable switch plates so I don't have to do any major modifications to the dash.

A buddy of mine has a cheap 3d printer so I'll prototype these on his machine then find an online shop that can print in ASA, which I've read is the best material for UV resistance. I feel pretty good about my first effort of CAD/3d printing so far. I don't think @bhicks or @Outsane have to worry about me encroaching on their turf. I found Fusion to be extremely frustrating to use a newb but can see how folks who do this for a living can make quick work of a project like this. I started with the bigger of the two, took me the better part of 2 days to get to what you see. The smaller one took me about an hour. But truth be told, I couldn't figure out how to center my rectangle cutouts between the screw holes so I just had to eye ball them. As you can see I'm a mm or 2 closer to one than the other. But for my use case I'll live with it. I'm hoping to get these printed and test fitted Sunday.

I got to play with the 3d printer last night. Both prototypes turned out great. I had to do a little filing around the openings to get the switches in but they fit and are secure. Now I need to go find a local source for black ASA.
