Toyo OpenCountry AT3 Experience?

We have had our 200 series since December 2017, so I do not know what it will be like to have a suspension upgrade and larger tires. I do know that the ride is not firm, and I think it will be more to my taste once I do the upgrade.

We also have the traditional Michelin ATX defender tires on here, so I’m sure going with a heavier built tire will change the dynamics as well
at least in my experience, i have never found a heavier and taller tire to benefit on-road anything…it usually makes everything on-road worst. Now, if you add in suspension mods, then yeah i guess that it may offset some of those pitfalls?? But i doubt that a modded LC will outperform a stock LC on-road in any aspect. Now, off-road, yeah, the mods/tires all do wonders. YMMV

I like the Toyo at3 but it doesn’t come in a 285/70/18. Next size down would be 275/70/18

Did I miss a photo of someone that has that size in this thread?

I'd encourage you to consider another option

In my case I have to agree. Going up several sizes in a P tire did more harm than good.

I'd agree that stock is going to have the best overall balance and on road qualities.

If on road handling is a priority, biggest tire paired with the a mild lift would be advantageous over smaller tires and a large suspension lift. This keeps the suspension travel within its sweet spot with less toe steer and bump steer.

Had KO2’s on a 2016 4Runner and still have them on my 2001 LC. Decided to switch it up when i got my 200 and have been really happy with the AT3’s. I’m not sure they’re the best option because i haven’t tested everything but I decided to go with the “newest version of a proven tire” methodology and so far it’s worked out well.

Cool! Got any pics of your rig with the new Toyos?

Just added a set of 285/65/18s to my 'new' 2016. Really like how they tighten up the ride without becoming too harsh.

The prior owner had a set of Coopers on & these blow them away. Braking is much smoother, the truck tracks great, and it feels way more responsive despite the added weight of these 285 LTs over the 265 P metrics.

The extra width of the 285/65 vs the 275/70 I have on my 100 series seems to fit the 200 series much better.

For the spacer fans out there do you have any regrets?

Zero regrets with running 275/70/18 on 1" Bora spacers

I’m sorry if you have already posted, could you upload a photo of your set up?

LOL

I swear I’m sober, lol

Does anyone here run the Toyo AT3s in stock size (285/60/18) in XL load? I like that the weight is similar to stock Dunlops and I'm guessing would perform somewhat similarly from a MPG and ride standpoint. Any thoughts/pics would be helpful. Deep in the rabbit hole on this one...need new tires for the 2019.

AT3 in stock size is fairly heavy tire at 44 lbs. Stock Dunlops are around 40 lbs each i think.

I did and pleased with the choice. Ran Michelin Lattitude HP in XL since new ( 2010 to 120k). Switched to the AT3 in stock size XL because the 2010 is going to a farm in the mountains. Have 6k on the AT3 s.

Traveling to the farmhouse ( under construction) weekly has added quick miles.

Much more confidence if it snows etc. ride and noise are not bad at all. The Wildpeaks, Nitto RG and KO2 all caught my eye. My back told me to stay P rated for the comfort.

My 2020 HE has Michelin AT2 in 275/65/18 XL taken off a Tundra Pro by Eric Sargent when I bought it. Highway slight edge. Snow off rode AT3 have the edge. All I can speak to.

285/65/r18 toyo at3 land cruiser 200 2011 stock
I got 3 at3 and 1 at2 perfect fit without any modifications
