Build Thread 'The Green Weed - Tildabogue Service Station'

A couple of months ago Georg reached out to ask if I had anyone looking for a 40.

And I did. We had been looking at them on and off for 6 months when this one came along I knew it was what we wanted.

Introducing The Green Weed. This 2/77 FJ40 was purchased off the lot in Northern California by the original owner when he was 25 years old.

One meticulous owner that is suffering from health issues and is trying to lighten the load on his family getting rid of some stuff.

It took forever to find the right shipper but it finally arrived here ready for the new owner to try out...

The Blue Norther came from one of my oldest cruiser buddies in Texas to the guy that ended up with TX Tan for a few seconds.

He bought it and wanted me to install a Sniper and put the hard top together.

We ended up a little deeper in the end. He loves it. It's totally bad ass.

Ooops. I tried to stay in order but I forgot the Saudi 84.

I import Land Cruisers from Saudi but this one was brought in from someone else.

The owner reached out to me and asked if I could put his new engine back into it and get it safe to drive for him

Nightmares happened. It left. Now it's back with a blown motor.

Work in progress. When it's done it will be outstanding

Build Thread 'Saudi 84 - Tilda Bogue Service Station'

The owner of this beauty tracked me down and asked me if I could help him get his 40 running.

His brother in law had a friend that was gong to "rebuild" it for him because the engine was smoking.

Fast forward 3-4 years and he got his motor back but that is where progress halted.

When I went to look at the job it was covered in chicken s*** and looked pretty sad and neglected.

I took the job and went and picked it and a nice pile of parts up back in December and shoved it in the shed while I took care of a couple I had in front of it.

11/83 build. H41 (granny low 1st) with 4.11s...

Just delivered this one last week. Simple Sniper job turned into a real project. Turns out it's only been driven 100 miles in 15 years. Lots of maintenance occurred.

One owner. One great family. $7000 turned into $15,000 fast.

Build Thread 'LA Tan - Tilda Bogue Service Station'

May has welcomed a new shop project.

One family owned 1981 FJ40 out of Louisiana .....

My buddy Deryl contacted me and told me a tale about this great FJ40 he helped revive a few years back for one of his customers to give to his customers daughter.

They whipped it back into shape, added a Vintage Air system and they got a few good years of use out of it.

Recently they reached out to him about it not running and he contracted me about a good candidate for a Sniper Install.

I eased down to Louisiana last month and grabbed it and put it in the queue.

April 2.

I can't believe I left off the Delta Beast. Lord this thing has been a large thorn in my side since 2017.

I found it. Sold it. The owner took it to two other shops. Spent tens of thousands on it. Then he decides to drive it like he stole it and kept blowing it up.

Then I inherited it back permanently about 4 years ago. Currently it's sitting dead in Oxford bleeding fluids. I think I'll go get it next week get it running and sell it before the owner knows.

Build Thread 'Mississippi Delta Beast - 1974 FJ-40 Rescue and Rehabilitation'

A few weeks ago a friend of mine told me about a guy at a gun store that has a couple of FJ40 doors in the back corner. He asked about them and the guy said he had a Land Cruiser than he bought in 2004 and was looking to sell it.

I rode over one day after work......he was about 40 miles from my house and on my work route, and talked to the guy.....

He's no Cruiser guy. Bought it because it looked good. Told me he was big into military stuff and had a Willy's Jeep and a Toyota Jeep. Both painted desert tan. Not a good paint job according to him (and according to the fairly rust free...

Another truck I forgot about because I did not do a build thread on it was a 1981 FJ40 that I put a sniper on. I ended up using that truck to make my latest HOW TO thread for Sniper Install.

Build Thread 'Holley Sniper/Desmog Install - Tilda Bogue Service Station'

I've been meaning to do a Holley Sniper install thread separate from a build thread and the perfect vehicle came in to do one.

I'll work on this thing this week and document the way I do it. It may not be the way you do it. It may not be the best way to do it.

This truck is perfect because it's fully smogged so we can cover both in one place.

1981 FJ40.

I've done over 30 of these things so I can give you my thoughts and insights along the way. Feel free to chime in. Most of my threads get totally derailed so I'm sure this won't be any different
