A couple of months ago Georg reached out to ask if I had anyone looking for a 40.

And I did. We had been looking at them on and off for 6 months when this one came along I knew it was what we wanted.

Introducing The Green Weed. This 2/77 FJ40 was purchased off the lot in Northern California by the original owner when he was 25 years old.

One meticulous owner that is suffering from health issues and is trying to lighten the load on his family getting rid of some stuff.

It took forever to find the right shipper but it finally arrived here ready for the new owner to try out.

Green Weed? Why that name? Well the truck lived in Weed California so why not?

202,000 miles it's still fully smogged. It has a really cool Fairey overdrive, AC, dual tanks, Electric PS and Terrain Tamer ellipticals.

When it arrived I cleaned out all of the spare parts that came with it and polished up the paint as best I could and sent it out to the new owner to decide what he wants to do to it.

The paint polished up decent but there are quite a few areas where paint was brushed onto it over the years that the owner is planning on addressing this winter with @Ozark cruiser at his shop. In the mean time I did what I could to make the 48 year old single stage pop

We kept in touch each week. I sent him some websites to look at and he made a decision on tires/wheels/bumpers and I got with my man Dave at 4Plus and ordered up some goodness

Curious about how those "flares" are integrated. Is that the OEM sheet metal that has been flared out? I don't hate the look of those rear wheel wells. Truck looks great so far.

Yeah. I'm not a fan. They are too low. If they did the flare without lowering the look of the fender maybe. I'm thinking flared when we paint it to be honest.

The YOKO 285/75’s on the CR 16” for the win. 🥇

The rear fenders made it look real low with just the 2" parabolics so I added some 5.8" Man a Fre shackles and proper caster correction.

Also a Hi Lift and Front Runner load bars

Next up, we are going to do some sound deadening and heat reduction and of course, a deep interior clean.

This truck had a nice carpet/jute kit but it was tired and as I found, really dirty (as you would expect)

Once it's all out the floors are in perfect condition.

Planning an altitude adjustment? Those tires are too big as is.
When did 33x10.50 become too big? Did I miss the memo?

No it's the correct height now.

guess they are fine for street. 33s aren't too big, when the package is balanced.

or maybe its just the camera angle showing the rear tire super close to the fender
Well thats what I was talking about earlier.

The person that installed these flares welded them in below the stock fender so that's why it looks like that. Because it is.

It does not rub though.

As I said before, when we paint this I'll likely have this cut out and install some cutout flares.

Yeah the rears look really close to the tub front. If you are in the mood for it, you can do the ProCruiser (Profitts) mod where they modify that area. But lovely rig nonetheless! Loving the original green.

I guess this works well? Getting the stickum off my top resto was my least favorite activity. Oh I'll add sticking down weatherstrip to that list too.
Yes. The headliner guy I used does it this way. Cooks it away. Leaves a little sticky that does not hurt anything
