looks good kurt, might have a spare oem PTO...

LMK... I'd be interested to hear what you've got. I'm wishing now I would have picked up Darrells when he pulled it off the troopy... hindsite.

Got a bit more done this last week, swapped in a new fuel pump and inventoried some of the other needs. I've updated my top post to reflect my current needs, but I'll post them here too :D

Parts I Need: Let me know if you know of a source!
PTO Winch (where are they when I actually want one :D )
Bug catcher window w/s (anyone making these again?)
Tailgate
OE Carb (has Rochester but runs)
Hub caps (have later model ones I will likely use, but I'de like a full set of the period correct ones)
Rear Tailight assemblies
Rear tailight plugs for vehicle side of harness (this one has been hacked)

ANYONE??? ANYONE??? :D

I have a PTO in pieces. (the spooled end that holds wire) It came off of a FJ40. Not sure about the the gear box, I will pull a box down tomorrow at the shop and see. I will let the PTO go for cheap since it is non functional:clap:

Thanks Mark... I spent the better part of an hour just admiring it! :D

You do AMAZING work!!!

Progress... at least a little anyways.

In the drive to the customer appreciation BBQ last year (where it subsequently won the most potential award) the motor siezed. It was no big surprise, it had horrendously low oil pressure, ticked pretty bad and leaked badly. It wasn't 'if' the motor got rebuilt or replace but a function of when, this sped up the decision, well kinda. It sat for a year. Moved a couple of times in the back yard. I can't say progress has been 100% void, I have gathered some parts over the last year.

Well tonight we changed that, Candace and I had family over for dinner tonight and we were all out back enjoying the mild weather and our hammered back yard (landscaping starts soon I hope). Everyone was asking questions about the 45 and next thing I knew we were tearing into the front end, started with the bezel/bib and the next thing I knew we had the radiator out. Minor progress but progress.

I'm hoping to get it moved into the shop in the next few weeks and tug the motor. Drivelines, linkage and motor mounts and its out. From there I'll decide whether or not it can be rebuilt or if I'm going to replace it with something newer. My goal is to have it driving by wintertime. We don't have plans to restore it, just get it running and driving cleanly for a year or two.

The biggest hurdle for me is still my need for parts, help me out if out if you know of something:

Glad to hear you're going to work on it Kurt!

On the parts tip....

I might be able to part with a headache rack, but that depends on my ability to snag a trayback for my 45 for not too much...

Keep me posted :D

Keep me posted :D

I definitely will.

If you get desperate, I've also got a complete PTO winch. But I have been planning on using it on my 45, so it'd probably be pretty hard to get me to part with it, but you know....

Have you tried 3_puppies? Last time I was up at his place he had a few PTO winches (maybe three?) as I recall... That was over a year ago now though!

Dan

3_puppies had one last weekend when I was there, maybe more than one :meh:

Hi,

I have a complete PTO winch, 3 speed tranny, 8,000 lb., old Ramsey one, attached to my 65 45swb. Don't plan on using it... I am in Tennessee, which is a drawback possibly. PM me if interested...

cheers,

Joel

BTW Kurt, I know of an engine from a '73 FJ-40 that I bet you could pick up pretty darned cheap. It ran into our shop, but only on 3 cylinders perhaps. Andrew had a hard time just getting it up the incline outside the shop. We replaced it with a 2F.

I don't know what he'd want for it, but I think he was considering just tearing it apart to see what was inside a motor. It's in NM, so only a short trip up to your place....

PM source3 for more info.

Dan
