That's annoying if you live in Canada, it's a bit of a trip.
Do they sell the 80-Series hood with the large louvers in the center? I've always wondered where those come from.

You would call mandhic give them your pumps Serial Number and they will try to custom make a pin/s for you.
The second part looks like it takes the place of our ACSD found on the 1HDT engine, but in this case you have a variable timing device...think a Nissan Patrol is close as well.
So now we require a "mecogeek" to re-jig the ACSD to be a programable timing device!

Just hit me over the head...
Someone needs to experiment with an ACSD blanking plate and various sized shims.
Remove the plate and then add/subtract shims to adjust timing till such time as a mecogeek builds the programable unit.
So many ways to play with diesel.

Have fun with that. The timing piston is controlled by housing pressure relative to rpm and load. Youd need a special guage to get it even close to spec. And it wouldnt fit on the pump whilst in the truck.
Otherwise youll be advancing too slow or too fast. It only moves about 8mm total. Pretty finely tuned item.

Just to let you gents know, we'll be doing a set of 1HDT injectors this week, and we'll be taking the time to set both injection stages and needle lift and get feedback from the customer on how we did. I have the HDT manual and will be following it closely for the procedures for setting the 2 different stages.

If anyone is still eanting to get their HDT injectors serviced, we can get all the parts, and succesfully completed a full rebuild and test.
They are actually quite easy to do and no special machine is required.
I can see how the other shops may over look the inner capsule needle pre-lift and opening pressure, which is an essential check for proper operation, and just toss new nozzles in.
We did both, and both opening pressures are spot on.
Either send them to the shop or let me know and ill do them in my spare time.

If they turn out as good as you say they, I could see you guys getting alot of work your way. Ive not heard anything good from any shops in the western hemisphere. Have you run them in a truck and checked egts and idle smoke?
What is your take on the 1HD-FT injectors, which are another beast altogether? 23600-19066 is the PN.

Before the rebuild, Truck smoked a bit on start up, now no smoke, and we will be installing a probe and Gturbo at the cutomers earliest oppotunity.
The injectors all had worn nozzles and were popping way below spec,
Edit: (just pulled the work order)
#1- 1950
#2- 1990
#3- 2040
#4- 2100
#5- 2260
#6- 2150
We matched them all to 2700psi (2702 is high spec). And matched the prelift to .09mm (spec is 0.08 - .10mm) across all 6.
I went through a lot of different shims to get there.
No. 2 pressure was set to 1950 psi across all 6.
In the manual it states you cant rebuild the no2 needle assy,(BS), but we did just that, and set the pre lift, which i think may be where some shops possibly fall short.
They DO take a bit longer to set up (25-30mins per). So the cost is a bit higher, but it is like doin two injectors at the same time.
Ill have a look.

The HD-FT injectors are almost the same except toyota elimated the capsule and replaced it with a pin, a spring, and a second seat Before the main spring shim and spring. So basically the same procedure with a few more measurements for pre-lift and shimming of the no 2 opening pressure.
Honestly, i cant see how everyone else seems to screw these up. If they had the manual, it all there in black and white. It just takes a bit more time and patience to do it right....
I guess it takes a toyota owner to understand lol.

Another thing that may affect the operation of the injectors after rebuilding, is the injector seat.
A lot of shops dont stock the correct seats for specific injectors, and will most likely use the closest match. You can sometimes get away with this without issues on an old IDI motor, but a DI is very precise with nozzle protrusion depth into the cylinder.
The 1HDT seats are kind of unique, they have a bevel on both sides, and are just slightly shy of the ID of the head bore.
We had an issue with a cummins dodge that smoked grey at idle, before warming up fully. New engine, new head, timing spot on and injectors checked. Turns out the previous shop used too thick seats, causing the injection spray to combust incompletely.
Changed them out for the specified thickness, and bang. No more grey smoke.
So, i can totallly see that being a possible issue in addition to improper rebiilding.
A difference in 0.5 -1 mm or more can have a large effect on where the jet of fuel contacts the piston bowls.

So the magic question is how much going through a set of 1HD-FT injectors would set one back, and what sort of turn-around. Any issues with items sent from the US?

No issues with items from the states. We do pumps and injectors from down south all the time. Obviously just make sure your box is up to snuff for the trip, and itll be fine. Usually 3 day turnaround or less if you let us know before sending so we have everything ready to go. We usually send by Purolator to the states, they seem pretty decent.
1HDT injectors take about half hour to complete ~$50 ea. I beleive nozzles were around the $75 ea. mark for genuine Denso.
1HD-FT injectors would take longer still, i would loosely quote 60 ea. And I would think the nozzles would be similar in price. Theres a bit more dial guage work and shimming that goes with these, and thats what takes the time.
