Well that was a solid 3 hour ass kicking. Taking 5 before I hook the engine hoist on this head and lift it out.

I can’t believe people will intentionally put a 3FE into a vehicle as a swap. Holy s***.

While I have this intake off I’m tracing the capped vacuum lines and it sure looks like all of these lines from the air cleaner through all of the spaghetti could just be eliminated except the one large hose that goes into the front of the intake.

The large hose comes through this BSPV valve. Not sure if that thing is still Doing anything anymore.

I think this could be plugged on the Tstat too

I actually removed all the lines after I got a good look at the routing of everything when I last had the manifolds off. I put a fuel filter where the charcoal canister used to be and haven’t experienced any ill effects like some have suggested. Like you said earlier the 3fe has less snot than the nice 2f, even with a manual.

Mine is stored right now, but when we finally find a house and I can work on it again, I am going to find plugs to cap the filter thing on the side of the manifold and where the large line attaches at the front.

I am thinking of trimming those two lines that come from the thermo-switch off the return fuel line there as well.

Looks like you eliminated the fluid lines that run up through the throttle body. I am assuming that has to do with getting it up to temperature faster and burning leaner.

Seems like everything could go as long as you ran a vacuum hose to the charcoal container with a check valve of sorts that did not come up until you accelerate. I use the vacuum advance on my Sniper trucks to do this. Not sure where to pull that on a 3FE

I only pulled those off because I was taking the valve cover/intake manifold on and off so much for a while there and I got sick of dealing with the coolant.ha They will go back on someday.. probably.. maybe..
I believe their purpose is to eliminate throttle body and iac icing in cold climates, but I could be wrong.

If you were committed to keeping the charcoal canister and also getting super sano with vacuum lines, I’m sure you could figure something out. It might get a little tricky but you could probably get a vacuum purge valve from a modern vehicle that automatically shuts when at idle and retrofit it.

My thought; if it's not hurting anything; leave it alone? :D

How many M416 trailers do you have now @wngrog? You should probably have at least two.
