I dig the open concept garage space.

They is actually “the Goat pen”. Built specifically for the Goat. Pull through lean-to attached to the side of my shop. Love it.

Really enjoyable to watch someone bring back a nice LC to an original level. I really enjoy watching this thread. Your collection is really great. I "restored" my 91 and dressed up the "parts donor" for my kid. I enjoyed doing both of them, but I have yet to have the gumption to start one of my other projects. 87 Grand Wagoneer, 1996 John Deere 6200, 74 Jeep J10, or 89 Dodge W150 short bed Reg cab 4x4. Weather is finally cooler now so maybe this week I will start one of these check list projects.

Excited to get my Beno box today to reassemble the fuel tank

I put it all back together with the new gaskets and screws and such

I can’t imagine doing this job on my belly. The lift made it easy

One thing that made it tricky was that Ian had to chop the fill tube in 1/2 to get it out of the donor vehicle. I used some Toyota hoses left over from the auxiliary tank to join them back together. Since gas does not rest here unless you do a real serious top-off I’m thinking I’ll be OK with this setup. Don’t mind the non OEM hose clamps. I wanted the widest, strongest ones I had in my stash since this is just

I was about to winch the spare back up and add some gas when Walker McCammon stopped by on his cross country trek to chat.

I’m off to camp this weekend so I really am looking forward to getting this project running Monday

Spent most of the day “uncamping” my 60 and my son’s 100. I’m damn glad I bought him those Slee Sliders because he used them hard this weekend in his first ever off road trip that he drove his own.

All I had to do on the 80 was winch the split rim/tire spare back in place, put the rear seat in, and finally add some gas.

7 miles to town it ran good. I forgot to set the timing so I think it was a bit retarded. I added 23 gallons of premium and popped the hood to make sure everything looked OK.

The coolant bottle was full and there was some overflow that had blown back.

No pressure on the top hose. I must have air in the system. Honestly it has not run enough to know and I plain forgot.

I dumped the overflow bottle back into the radiator and started for home and the temp gauge spiked to red in 1/2 mile. I pulled over to let it cool and went to get fluid at the station.

After dumping a 1/2 gallon in I started it up to this

Blown Headgasket. Holy hell. This thing may kill me.

I called my friend to get me and I tucked it away while I make a plan to fix it.
Boo. Hiss.

Holy s***. I hate taking certain things apart twice in a months time. Can't imagine how you feel about digging the thing apart again right now.

I would not let it sit very long as is. I would drain the coolant from radiator and block, run it for about a minute to clear the cylinders of any coolant. Might want to drain the oil as well.

Thanks for the tip. Weird there is no fluid in the oil that I can see. Yet....

I’ve spoken to @FJ60Cam at Mosley Motors and I’m going to go ahead and get a WooPow 3FE head built to put it back together. Granted I don’t think the timing was exactly right, I’ll say the Desmog did not do a whole lot to open this motor up. My 2F with Sniper setup and Mosley Head has a lot more power than this Desmog 3FE. I was expecting them to be very similar but it’s not so why not get this thing some more air while I’m at it.

It’s wild that it was only in the red for maybe 30 seconds and it popped the HG. Too bad this thing set up so much. I’m guessing it was brittle and did not take much to kill it

I got to spend a couple of hours on this turd today because I want to get this head up to Mosley Thursday.

I took pictures of everything in hope that I can manage to put it all back together later in the month

The nice thing about living on a farm is the environmental laws lol
Once I was drained I took the above advice as cranked it for a bit. I chickened out before it stopped steaming out of the exhaust. None in the oil thank goodness.

I need to know what all I need to do to this thing to make sure it’s clean

Stance is good even without the full auxiliary tank that was full.

A Hotsy will do the trick on the intake. You could get it hot tanked just make sure what they dip it in won’t change-harm aluminum.

Cheers

It’s usually all the hell over my shop floor later to be swept out there. None of my animals seem to have a taste for it as I never see them mess with it when it’s puddled up
