Updates... Got my wheels back to black but waiting to mount them until I bleed my brakes....and waiting on new bleeders from wilwood to do that.
Got a question tho.
Ordered an OEM jack, jack handles, jack holder for tool box and jack clips for mounting jack handles. The jack clips, however, do not match my rig, so I am assuming they are off a later year FJ? The clips I got have both clips on a single mount with only two holes, whereas my tub has 4 diagonal holes for I am guessing individual clips to mount up.
If these are wrong year clips I can go back and try to find the right one.

Chris those are a later style jack handle holder the ones you need to be "period correct" and line up with the existing holes are individual clips(4 total) instead of the two lumped together like you have there...... if you need a set of correct ones for your 40 just shoot me a PM I've got several sets sitting around.

When I purchased my jack the seller had a "jack holder" that was purported to be mounted in the tool box to hold the jack in place. I have said "jack holder" and cannot for the life of me surmise how it would hold a jack!
Is this jack holder correct for my 64', and if so does anyone have a shot of one in action to help me out. Here is what I got.....

Hate to sound anal, and I do not mean to be so picky, but I do not bleive that jack to be circa 1964 either. To the best of my knowledge, a 1964 jack would have had slotted screws and not Philips heads.

No it is not the correct jack holder. That fits 73 thru 78 models. You should have a bracket the jack clips into. It is towards the front of the tool box. They should be two holes for the bracket's bolts. The later style went further back in the same area of the later cruisers (73-78) you rested the top end in the bracket and opened up the jack so it was pinched between this bracket and where the floor raised under the driver's seat.

Gas Tank Sending Unit
Guys,
Am prepping my gas tank for paint and decided to "bench test" the sending unit. I never did verify if it worked.
I hooked it up to my wiring harness, and grounded the unit "extra well" and was only able to get the gauge to show 1/8" of a tank. I think checked the impedance of the unit and my multimeter showed it to be very dis-continuous and jump around a significant amount.
I then connected the gauge wire directly to ground and bingo, a full tank of gas magically appeared.
Sending unit gonzo? Is the unit from a later year perhaps and wont work with my early gauge? I will post pics tonight but wondered how to confirm the year of my tank is correct for my rig. Reason I ask is that it is in very good shape (no scale, some surface rust) and only had black paint on it, no signs of any other color.
If I need a new sending unit, what options exist as SOR don't have em... and I hate to pay big bucks for used....

FST Door restoration
Folks,
I got some good used FST doors and am ready to start teardown and restoration...
Couldn't find a decent rebuild thread so will document mine here and ask plenty of questions.
Firstly, the $64K question in my mind is who has the best weatherstripping? The original was so tattered I took it out, but want to know if what SOR has is good or if Toyota dealers still offer it. Also, is there a source for the rubber for the fixed wing window? Mine is in "good" shape, but I would love to take the plastic out and replace with new and am worried I will tear up the rubber removing it... so I want to verify there is a source for it before I take that on. SOR didn't have it. Plus I am going to sandblast the frames.
Also, I see SOR has felt for the window channels, but not the felt strip that runs horizontally across the door that the window rides against.
And speaking of the windows, what is the best replacement material for the plastic, just plain ol' plexiglass?
Here are pics below. The weatherstrip frame is a bit rusty on the bottom of the door so I am PB Blastin' it before even attempting the screws... I also PB Blasted the screws holding the window channels and will give them a few days as well. Other then the rust in the weatherstrip holder, the doors are in great shape.

save the wing window rubbers!!!! they are not made any more 
The channel rubbers can be bought form spector of road ( reproductions , work well )
Be supper careful pulling the metal channels of around the door, as they are not made any more,
Try not to bend them when you take them off.
Best thing is remove the old rubbers from the channel then soak em with mouse milk or something similar ( if they screws do not back out easy ) Be careful not to strip the heads of the screws holding the channels in either
I wish i had snapped more photos when i redid mine.
The canvas is like stretching a canvas for oil painting etc on a frame.
But that is farther down the road ( as i am sure you want to take it apart clean and paint everything )
But stretching the canvas is easy with a bunch of clamps etc. When the time comes i can help talk you through it.

Thanks Guys, I need to figure out if that wing rubber is pliable enough to take out, or if I just leave the wings in and blast paint that way.
