I should add that in some regards powder coating the valve cover is like putting lipstick on a pig since the head and block look pretty rough. But the heart wants what the heart wants and I have wanted this valve cover for a while now.

Looks nice!

I really need to replace my heater valve too; been lazy about it for years.

I love this forum. After refilling the radiator I went to fire The Iron Yak up only to get no spark. A quick look at the forum taught me that the coil/igniter is ground to its bracket which is ground to the fender. My fenders are off. I ran a short ground wire from the coil igniter bracket to the frame and she fired right up. Ran until thermostat opened. A added coolant and distilled water. Put her up on ramps. Added more. Opened the heater valve added more. Ran her for about 15 minutes.

You are making great progress. I love the rolling restos, keep it on the road.

These are the hoses I used on mine, The water pump is from a later FJ55 and I am running the oil cooler. Should work for yours, but you might want to double check the pet number.

Thank you @Jdc1 ...i replaced this hose (thermostat housing to heater pipe) with a piece of 5/8 inch heater hose and it is adequate but I would like to find an OEM or repro that has the same bends. I just haven’t found it online yet and Ive looked on SOR, city racer cruiser corp, etc.

Try your dealer, Cruiser Outfitters or an online oem parts dealer like Toyotapartsdealonline. I’ve had decent luck with Rockauto stuff too.

It was late last night when I looked at this post. A closer look at the oil cooler hose this morning has me thinking it will work. Has almost the same shape. I have ordered hoses online from McGeorge Toyota Before.
I just ordered the 15777-61011. Will see if it fits.
Thanks again

Update with some photos. Some of this has been posted in the ”What have you done” thread.

I have all the pieces and parts like stainless bolt kits for bumpers,, running boards, hood hinges, hood hooks, etc. I even have a stainless pin set for the hood hinges from SMG. i hoped to be done by the end of June. looks like we’ll overshoot that by 2 weeks. All in all not bad. I’ll post up some pics when its back together.

Who's the bodybuilder taking the pix?

Should have had my “get your tickets to the gun show“ t shirt on.
if the camera adds 10 pounds then a reflection in a chrome Tacoma grill surround must take off 50
that looks creepy😂😂

So my brother hit the bottom of the parts with paint this morning. He plans to finish up middle of next week.
I’ll be picking up parts one week from tomorrow 👏👏👏
I haven’t driven the Iron Yak since May. Needless to say I can’t wait to get her put back together and drive her again.

Went to Bothers house to pick up parts yesterday. Spent about 7 hours putting her back together today.
I am really happy to have The Iron Yak all one color. New latches. New front grill emblem. You can see how well the color match is by looking at the junction of hood/cowl. New color matched running boards. All stainless hardware. Time to start saving for steelies and MTs. Will have her looking like a proper 40 soon.

Been too long since I posted on my thread. Since my last post I have replaced the seam sealer between the cowl/windshield. Replaced the body mounts. And purchased 16 inch City Racer Rims and Toyo open County MT 255/85/16s which are being installed today.
More photos this afternoon

Looking very good - love those 16" rims and the white truck color (hides all manor of sins...)! That is a sharp truck and you have done all the right things to it so far, IMO.

You might want to put some sort of anti-theft device on it and insure it well with a collector car company. Murphy's Law and all....
