Completed Desmog yesterday that I started Sunday. I of course had a bit of trouble with the vacuum lines mostly due to my lack of knowledge. Once again the people and information on this forum pulled me across the finish line. She fired right up. She sounds like she is idling a little high. I will tweak the carb and timing tomorrow. Drove her to the gym then to work this morning. This was also the first real drive since replacing TREs last weekend. The steering now has very little play and therefore is more responsive. Hope to get the front end aligned tomorrow. Now it’s time to obsess about something else.

PLEASE... keep this thing away from the beach. If you have to, make sure you put it in the washer and give it a good rinse cycle.

And don't forget the dryer!

Went from these to these.

Vacuum lines arrived. Finally changed them all. But I’ll spare you the picture since they are BLUE

New brake booster installed, new master cylinder installed. Both from city racers. Just have to take care of connecting the brake lines tomorrow or Sunday. I’ll post up a photo or two then.

Brake lines attached, brake lines bled. This combination is awesome. The brakes really have some bite now. Dual diaphragm brake booster and FZJ80 MC from Cityracer. Wildwood brake proportioni valve. My brake problem is solved. Special thanks to 1911 for tips and advice.

I see what you're saying about the blue hoses - YIKES o_O

I knew that would draw some:oops: however my brain works the way it works and I needed some color contrast to more clearly see things. Maybe one day when I know the engine like the back of my hand I’ll switch back to black.🤷🏼

Been a while since I posted in the build thread. Doing this for family.

I have been acquiring pieces for a tool kit for some while. I really have a preference for a roll up tool bag therefore I didn’t want to buy the reproduction tool bag. I bought the light colored Toyota bag (not because I wanted the bag) because it came with a partial set of tools at a good price. I then found this dark brown waxed canvas roll up tool bag online. I then took both to my local embroidery shop where the owner scanned the images from the original Toyota bag into his computer and then stitched onto my new roll up bag. I think it came out great and certainly has the rugged spirit of Landcruiser In it. I need to change out a few pieces to make all of the tools Toyota but I can do that our time. It likes its new home.

Big project has begun. Hood, bib, fenders, aprons being removed for sandblasting and paint.
These running boards are being replaced by OEM which will be painted to match also. I have acquired some parts over the last couple of months.
While the Iron Yak is down I will replace all new heater hoses, radiator hoses, new clamps, a heater valve,
clutch MC and slave, battery tray, etc.
Also plan on taking a few brackets, fan shroud, and Valve cover to get powder coated.
Ill post up some more photos as the project progresses.

Thanks
I have a feeling this will take a while so I wanted to get started. I cant wait to get rid of the primer. I sent my brother the kick vent and he is having paint matched now. My goal is to take parts to the sandbalster NLT 5/26. I suspect I’ll have about a month to 6 weeks to do all the little projects before the painted parts are ready. A few pieces and parts waiting for their new home.

A bit of progress today. Hood, fenders, bib, aprons ready to go to sandblasting nest week. I realized what a rabbit hole I was jumping into by wanting to powder coat “a few” pieces. So I hit the brakes on that. I do have the valve cover ready to go. The rest I will wait on.

Replaced the rusty crusty heater valve, all new heater hoses and stainless clamps, new radiator hoses and clamps. Valve cover powder coated is back in place. I had a small oil leak on the right rear side of the valve cover so I applied a new valve cover gasket using a gray permatex gasket sealer designed specifically for rubber gaskets. 🤞. Also replaced a non existence air cleaner gasket. Used POR 15 for the heater pipes. These were 2 of the items I initially wanted to powder coat. They turned out OK. Today I will refill the cooling system and burp it. Ordered some 303 to see if I can get that firewall cleaned up a bit.

I should add that in some regards powder coating the valve cover is like putting lipstick on a pig since the head and block look pretty rough. But the heart wants what the heart wants and I have wanted this valve cover for a while now.
