Now for the joke of the day:

It's NCSU's new statue and "cave" the team will enter the field from.

don't sell youself short Andy you guys are a tremendous CUPCAKE:flipoff2:

we should be hitting our stride right about Oct. 9th.... I can already smell victory

Don't sleep on the Deacs. :flipoff2:

On second thought, take us lightly. Flying in low and under the radar is A-OK with me...

Ha, that scent you smell is crow and you're going to have to belly up to a big buffet of it late that Thursday night.

Just kicked off! It begins!

Watchin' the game and drinkin' a Gordon.

4 minutes into the season and I've already seen a pass for a 1st down, a sack and an interception. Damn, I love college football!

I have to say I didn't get to watch as I was busy driving to Clemson, but I did pick it up on radio from late in the 2nd quarter until about 1/2 way through the fourth. From what I could hear it sounded like the score looked a lot better than the game. 8 turnovers, numerous penalties, feeble offense for the majority of the game from both teams. Maybe it was good I couldn't watch might not have been worth it.

Cocks put up a good number though Clemson will need to leave the starters in past halftime or you might win some money David.

Yeah I watched it till the 4th qtr...looks like that's where it really fell apart for NCS....I'd have to say that the D was the exciting part of the game....think the gamecocks got lucky on this one.

LOL...Cocks never let NCS past the USC 35 yard line. USC gave up 4 turnovers.
Still kicked that butt. Lordy....if they clean up a bit they could be a tough out.
34-0....lucky...THAT is some kind of luck. Smelley was 5 for 5 with 2 touchdowns.
Davis ran for over a 100 yards and missed the first quarter and split time
with two other backs. Got a pick or two . Tommy Beecher looked like a deer
in headlights. LOL...winning by 34 and doing it ugly. Damn, that chit smells
good. Cocks wearing down an ACC team. ROFLMAO. That's what teams used
to do to USC. Cocks would play 'em close then get blown up in the 4th.
We'll know more next Thursday. Vandy looked solid.
We'll see about the Tiger's luck on Saturday. Closer it gets the more I'm
leaning toward Bama gettin' lucky. ;)
Wake is the real deal. Be worried ACC...be very worried. LOWF is coming
round the mountain again.

Yep, good game David. I watched your game during breaks in Deacon action and it was quite the butt kicking as you say.

Don't let the cat out of the bag RE: the Deacs. ;) Sneaking up on teams is the only way to fly... :D

EDIT: I meant to post this article a few days ago from the Observer. Don't know if you saw it or not:

USC WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER OFF STAYING IN ACC

CAULTON TUDOR

There are two popular theories for why charter-member South Carolina left the ACC after the 1970-71 school year.

One is that then- athletics director and football coach Paul Dietzel believed the conference's difficult academic entrance requirements negated any chance for his program to achieve success on a national level.

A second is that then-Gamecocks basketball coach Frank McGuire had worn out his welcome and convinced the school's administration to leave the league high and dry after having whipped North Carolina in a memorable 1971 ACC tournament championship game in Greensboro.

At the time it happened, I thought (still do) that football issues drove the decision. But all of these years later, the seed is not as important as the fruit, which would have been more tasty had South Carolina stayed aboard. The school would have been better off with the ACC, and the ACC would have been better, and stronger, with South Carolina as a member.

If it makes the ACC old-liners feel happier, there isn't much doubt the league has fared better than South Carolina. The ACC's acquisitions of Georgia Tech in 1979 and Florida State in 1991 resulted in three national football titles and two NCAA Final Four appearances. Those additions would have been made with or without South Carolina. By the time FSU entered, a nine- or 10-team league model had replaced eight teams as the best workable football formula.

The Gamecocks, since joining the SEC in 1992, have had three winning seasons in league football competition (all 5-3) and have slipped in basketball to the extent that a strong NIT performance has more or less become the ceiling. What hasn't changed is the feel of the fit. South Carolina was a natural for the ACC, as were the Gamecocks' rivalries with most of the ACC schools.

It's still difficult to accept the fact that the Clemson-USC football annual finale has no impact on either team's conference status. When N.C. State and South Carolina open the 2008 football season Thursday night in Columbia, the players won't sense the historic connection. For that matter, neither will the coaches - South Carolina's Steve Spurrier and N.C. State's Tom O'Brien. Those players and coaches landed at their schools long after N.C. State began the Dick Christy Award, which annually went to the most outstanding Wolfpack player in the game against the Gamecocks. Christy, on Nov. 23, 1957, scored all of N.C. State's points in a 29-26 win against South Carolina that resulted in the Wolfpack's first ACC football championship.

Most fans will not remember that game and those days, either. But N.C. State's coach at that time, the late Earle Edwards, called Christy's performance "so amazing" that Wolfpack fans should never forget it. The nature of history is that we do forget. It falls into the category of South Carolina's years of ACC membership. It's gone, and it probably can't be fixed. But in the perfect world of what once was referred to as "the ACC family," Thursday's opener would be a conference game.

Everyone knows USC would have been better off staying in the ACC including USC. They would rather be s***ty in the best league than avg in a a mid level BCS league. Thats fine we all make our choices.

Don't go anointing WF yet they played Baylor who is the worst team in the big 12 every yr for as long as anyone can remember. Thats like USC playing Duke and then calling them th best team in the SEC.

Pathetic first half for the Tigers...'Tide's taking names.

There you go again speaking for EVERYBODY. USC fans love being in the SEC.
If memory serves me USC WON the ACC the year before they pulled out of the ACC.
In fact, CU promised they were leaving the ACC along with USC but wussied out
so they would be the big dog left in the ACC. Worked great for a while.
How's that working lately? Since the expansion of the ACC CU has won NADDA.
Believe this: USC doesn't care to be the big fish in the little pond.
Your last statement makes NO sense. What are you trying to say?
WF is a ranked team. They play sound football. I think they have won an
ACC Championship more recently than CU.
Are you saying something like losing to Bama means the Tide is the best team in the SEC?
I mean CU IS the most talented team in the ACC...right? :grinpimp:
CU owns USC right now. Late November comes soon enough and they will settle
the bragging rights on the field.
For now boast all you want. Your team has earned you that right.

Awful quiet here... crickets?

Go Dawgs!!!

You can borrow my avatar it you want... :grinpimp:

I think there's a few out there that just reallized Klempsun never lives up to the hype and they're never as good as they look on paper. they're still in shock.

Fire Bowden... at the end of his new long term contract!

Losing to the 6th best SEC team means you are at best 7th best in the SEC... which usually is good enough for a bowl game... got that going for you!

Bad news is... scumbag saban may actually be able to bring bama back to prominence. This isn't the year though. Top 15 at best and probably still 5th - 6th best in the SEC. I watched the bama hype last year too. 3-0 and all the talk was UNDEFEATED SEASON. Delusional tards.

Going to be a great year to watch!
