Good game CU bats just died out in Omaha went from 10 runs per game during the regional and super regional to 4 overnight and still had a chance to play for the title. Maybe that will give KP another reason to come back cause he wants another run at it. USuC is in for a fight UCLA pitching is ridiculous their 3 starters are combined like 38-6 on the year and the 2 that were eligible got drafted in the 1 and 2 rounds last week.

Why am I not surprised that YOU are soooo impressed by UCLA?
I guess the Tigers just didn't play with that Tiger passion. Guess they weren't All In.
I think USC has a guy with a better era and a better win/loss record than Cole.
Good Lord....we didn't even need Coop to whup the Tigers.
Parker is so gone it ain't funny. He ain't All In either.
Guess Boyd is getting ready for his Heisman run.

UCLA is a quality team. They could easily win two straight.
Still...check the overall win/loss record of the two clubs.
It might surprise you who has the better record.
USC is an underdog. Nothing new there. Aside from
the regional that has been the case all through the post season.

Congrats David. Looking forward to watching the Cocks.

Thanks Troll. Believe it or not I would have pulled for the Tigers if they were the S.C.
team looking to bring home the hardware.
In any case they acquitted themselves well in the post season.
The State should be proud of the show OUR teams put on.

That said...the Cocks ain't got a prayer of a chance. :grinpimp:

I'm not particularly impressed by UCLA I have only seen 1 game they played and that was 2 days ago. I'm just pointing out that they have one of the best pitching staffs in the country. Yes USuC also has a good staff but only 2 guys not 3, dont believe me heres the comparison from baseball america. Just a heads up they give UCLA the advantage in starting pitching and bullpen so unless you can invent some new kind of pitching before they play tonight UCLA has the better pitchers.

Yes Parker is most likely gone, also overdrafted but you can teach fielding I guess. We are gonna spend all year breaking in a new QB and hanging on with good D and the running game. But enough football this is the baseball thread.

I checked the record USC has 1 more win but also has 1 more loss, so essentially there is no difference, but if you want to get super technical UCLA has a better win percentage so that would make you wrong. :flipoff2: But I guess that USC math has some special rounding or something they dont teach at other schools.

Just saying. Coop has a better win/loss record than Cole and a better era.
USC's pitching staff ain't nothing to sneeze at either my friend.
LOL...dude who wasn't a starter shut down Clemson. CU will never forget Roth.
Baseball America is an A.C.C. homer group. Don't believe me? Check out their ranking throughout the year. They absolutely HATE USC. Always have and always will.
These are two VERY evenly matched teams.
With that said UCLA will win in two.
:grinpimp:

Why are you so set on making the comparison with Cole, when he is arguably only their 3rd best pitcher? If you need to compare your #1 to the other teams #3 then maybe you should be worried. Rasmussen has the same record and a better ERA and Bauer has a better record and ERA.

UCLA will win in 3

That match-up is the match-up tonight. Cole has had plenty of rest and is one of the oh so fabulous
trio everybody slobbers over.
Po ol Coop has only had 3 days rest.
Doubt we'll see the faded hat, media darling, sense he threw something like 140 pitches in 100+ degrees just the other day for the Bruins.
Numbers don't account for heart. This USC team is about as gritty a team as you'll ever see.
Like always the Gamecocks get no respect. Rodney Dangerfield gets more respect than USC. ;)
Win or lose it's just kids playing a game.
Gamecocks fans understand that and support them good and bad.
It's sad how many team's fans "eat their own" when things go south.
I'm proud of the guys even if they fall short.
Character is built through adversity, not success. Surviving 4 straight elimination games is about
as adverse as it gets.
I think the team understands the undying loyalty that their fans bestow.
I think knowing that helps them play loose.
I think the pressure is on UCLA. If they don't crack they SHOULD win. Everybody expects them to.
If the game stay close I like USC's chances.
Still...UCLA in two.

Well.....Mr All World, first round pick out of high school, sure got a lot of love from the announcers.
According to ESPN he deserved better. I mean they told us over and over he was their ACE.
Struck out 13 in his last outing...a week ago.
Coop will NEVER sniff the pros per ESPN's crew. BTW, news flash Coop was a 12th round draft pick.
3rd game in 9 days. 3 days rest. A warrior.
Geeesh....like I said....USC gets no respect. Good grief. USC steals a base in the 8th and the announcers
diss the team and warn "That will wake a sleeping GIANT".

Glad to get the win. It wasn't close. Pure luck. No skills involved.

I was wrong. Richard hits the nail on the head. UCLA in 3. The Giant has been awaken.

Nice comment about how classy Clemson was helping search for the "missing" kids.
I agree.

Yeah, the announcers just kept talking about how great UCLA is. Why couldn't they just own up to the fact that Carolina is good too? Who wants it more? We'll see...

Coach REALLY needs to have a talk with right field and 2nd base...I'm just sayin'.

Fine piece of pitchin' by Cooper!

Damn fine ball game! Congrats to Carolina for a great season!

I felt sorry for the po ol UCLA first baseman. Error allows the tying run to score
in the bottom of the 8th. Then he goes to the dugout and slams his hand ,in anger,
against the bench and sustains an injury requiring him to come out of the lineup.
Reminded me of Buckner letting a ball go between his legs and then wound up
losing the World Series a few years back.
Poor dude. I bet they mention the error and injury in his obituary when he departs.
That is the kind of stuff that seemed to happen to USC over the years, hence the
"Chicken Curse" references.
That was a heck of a game last night.
"If ya want to be the Man, ya gotta beat the Man." according to Gamecock fan Rick Flair.
Beating such an outstanding team as UCLA and that awesome pitching staff fits
the bill.
Gamecocks...you da Man!

It's funny that I come out to our LA office for the first time ever from Columbia, and then USC beats the crap out of UCLA.

This is the first time in my life that I have been proud of USC, but it is more of a State pride thing than Gamecock.

My office said Columbia is on fire today and everyone is scrambling to get Championship Tshirts made.

Taking your cues from Michele Obama ?

Why is it so hard for many CU fans to just say congrats. Must it always be accompanied with
a back hand slap?

Ya ain't gotta love USC to acknowledge what they accomplished. Your statement basically says
you have been ashamed of USC your whole life. Geeez...

Thanks for the kudos...I guess.

:grinpimp:

Congrats to USC.... was very glad to see you guys win it last night. Enjoy your national title you earned it for sure with some out standing pitching and D

What I meant was that everywhere I go when people see I am from SC they usually ask Clemson or Gamecock. Out here in Cali I have been proud to say that I am a Gamecock fan for what they accomplished and proud to be from SC. The congrats didn't come with an * or a back hand slap, just letting you know that I was spreading the Gamecock love out here in the face of MANY UCLA fans.

Congrats to USC for a very nice season and a well deserved Championship. Any championship for the state of SC is great regardless if you bleed orange and purple, or brick and black.

Jeremy

EDIT: I take back my earlier statement, I am proud of USC everytime they beat UG and Florida. Can't stand those guys.
