Anything and everything about baseball.

I will start it off by saying my Tarheels finished 2nd last year. I have no idea how they fair this year.

Heels are preseason #5, 2 spots behind the lamecocks and 3 spots behind the TIGERS. Rice is #1. Clemson is projected first by the ACC coaches with UNC second.

Correction to my post in the bball threa SEC has 3 teams in the top 10, I forgot to count Vanderbilt since I didnt know they even had a baseball team. I dont trust either Arkansas or Vandy being top 10 since Vandy didnt even finish ranked last yr and Arkansas was 25. I need to see some performance before either of them can be considered top 10.

vandy was solid last year, made it to the regionals...got to stick up for my current 'team' a little bit, ha ha.
oh, and by the way, vandy's basketball team is a frickin wreckin ball at home vs. ranked SEC opponents, ha ha (tenn and alabama...)

hopefully goin to make it back to clemson for a series or two this spring...
GO TIGERS.

Thanks for the info Malph I will give them a little credit now then, not top 10 credit though you have to earn that. They werent even ranked last yr, so unless they lost nobody thats one heck of a jump.

Southern Fried Baseball

Do they play REAL baseball at southern schools or WHAT?
Some polls have USC as #1 and some also have CU at # 1
as well. It's early, but USC is 3-0. :) Rice has a loss.
I hope to get to see a UNC vs USC in a regional this year. Again.
CU vs USC has a March game as well. It should be a dandy.
I think the Tigers throw out the first pitch this Friday.

new #1?

Go Tigers #1 in the country. Opening weekend of the season starts tomorrow.

Boy that ranking sure took a hit today. :grinpimp:
George Mason takes one from the Tigers.
Cocks still undefeated at 5-0. I'm betting they
are unanimous #1 next week.
It's a long way to Omaha, but it's nice to be ranked #1
for a while anyway.

You arent #1 yet. 1 besides this is Baseball Clemson took 2 of 3 from miami last yr and moved up in the polls 1 loss is not nearly as big in baseball as it is in other sports.

It sure took Rice one loss to drop. Besides, the Gamecocks ARE currently # 1 in some polls. :grinpimp:
Wanna bet?

Actually Rice lost 3 games in its first 5 and 2 games before they dropped from the #1 spot so YOU ARE WRONG. :flipoff2: On the other side though I'm not saying you guys probably wont move to #1 since you havent lost. Just saying you should wait til it occurs to gloat dont count your chickens as they say. Its all good though cause we lost a few early last season then snapped off like 30 of 32 after that.

go jayhawks!...the hawks are picked to finish at the bottom of the big 12...coach price thinks differently...the pitching staff will tell the tale as the season goes on

my son will be the #4 pitcher in the varsity rotation as a freshman for our high school team!

thanks for the baseball thread troll!

Kudos on the pitcher. Maybe Old Ray Tanner or Jack Legget will
lure him away from Kanas. :grinpimp:
Good pitchers are a much sought after addition to any squad.
Hitters a fun and exciting but if ya can't hit the ball.....you lose.
CU has a great pitching staff this year. USC may have to rely
on the bats. I think the Cocks averaged about 10 runs a game
so far. Sooner or later ya have to win a 1-0 game and that's
ALL about pitching.
I'll be pulling for the Jayhawks to make it to Omaha now!
Keep us posted on the budding ace's progress.

gundy...thanks and best of all my boy is a lefty...he spent the winter working out with mike zagurski jayhawk alum now with the phillies and don czyz jayhawk alum now with the marlins....he has worked real hard on his arsenal of pitches...2 seam, 4 seam, change up and the ugliest slider either of his coaches has ever seen...i think if he does not play at ku he will head for jmu over in virginia...but ku is his first choice....of coarse i think if cal state fullerton came calling he might just answer!

Just get him to visit the beautiful campus here at Clemson and see all the pretty girls then tack that onto the fact that we are a baseball school and he'll be hooked he wont even remember what Kansas looks like. You wont need to waste your time riding the extra 2 hrs to columbia he can see asphault and ugly girls anywhere.

good point...he does need to look at all his options...i would not mind living in the southeast...beautiful country over there...it would be a little bit of a trip to get his 40 over there...i truely believe he could play about anywhere...lefty pitchers...good lefty pitchers are always in demand...and he is working hard at being the best he can be....time will tell...but kansas is off to a great start this season 7 -1....and coach price and his staff are awful good to jake (my son)...in an ncaa legal way!

Oooooooo....a lefty....sounds like he may have LOTS of option his Sr year.
USC has recruited the #1 ranked recruiting class 2 years in a row so
talented kids must like it coming to SC. :grinpimp:
They are getting ready to construct a new "state of the art" multi-million
dollar baseball complex as well. The atmosphere for college baseball
in SC is unreal. No pro teams. Rabid loyal fans. Great conference rivaries.
Over the top state rivaries.
In any event, here's to hard throwing 4 pitch lefties!
