Two things, I have installed a sample weather strip in the side tracks of my tailgate, the fit is tight but I'll let you all know how it works over the next few weeks, it is not glued in and so far has not moved at all. I got it from Restoration Specialist.

Second, so far the contact cement used for the cowl weather strip has held up the past few days but tomorrow I'm headed down to IPOR to have my A/C wired and it's about 100 miles round trip so it will get nice and hot , so it will be a good test to of the glue.

Here's what I'm using in the tail gate tracks

Lou

Well I never got any updates from Lou on this.

John at SloCruisers made up the 2 pieces for lower tailgate glass channel run:

FJ55 Lower Tailgate Glass Channel Run--Two Piece

$25

Anybody know if this will fit a 75 fj40

Window Channel
Driver / JC Whitney/ $9/ ZX184879T/ 8 ft
Passenger/ JC Whitney/ $9/ ZX184879T/ 8 ft

Window Felt (straight chrome w/ felt)
Driver/ JC Whitney/ $14/ ZX193480P/ 8 ft
Passenger/ JC Whitney/ $14/ ZX193480P/ 8 ft

Guys, specific question:

I have been through the thread 3 times now, and have it mostly sorted out. The thing I am missing is, there is no longer a part number that matches up for the door side weather stripping. This:

Driver/ JC Whitney/ $17/ ZX813688A/ 10 ft
Passenger/ JC Whitney/ $17/ ZX813689B/ 10 ft
Left Rear/ JC Whitney/ $17/ ZX813688A/ 10 ft
Right Rear/ JC Whitney/ $17/ ZX813689B/ 10 ft

And this:

For the Door Weatherstrip (on the door itself): These are again said to work well but are somewhat fatter than stock. Here according to one post there has been a part number change for the passenger side and tailgate side strips.
Passenger side changed from ZX813689B to ZX813689r

None of the door side weather stripping codes exist any longer. Has anyone chased this down? Which profile was this? Is there any other options available that I'm missing somewhere?

I've been collecting weather stripping, most of which I found here on this thread. So far I have the upper tailgate rubber and cargo window rubber from PVCruisers, and they are dead on stock.

Some of the JC Whitney stuff I have is really good, some not as much. So I decided to take some photos and post up the differences.

Door seals (on the actual door in the channel)

Driver/ JC Whitney/ $17/ ZX813688A/ 10 ft
Passenger/ JC Whitney/ $17/ ZX813689B/ 10 ft
Left Rear/ JC Whitney/ $17/ ZX813688A/ 10 ft
Right Rear/ JC Whitney/ $17/ ZX813689B/ 10 ft

And here is the comparison to stock. The new pieces are continuous, so I couldn't take a picture of the cross section, so I drew it in and it's approximate. The big thing here is that it is fatter than stock.

Ok guys...I'm still searching for a match to this piece. Check this one out.

MOLDED SPONGE RUBBER WEATHERSTRIPPING FOR DOORS AND TRUNKS - JCWhitney

The 'D' looks similar. I will measure on my pig this afternoon to see if it is close.

This is for the weatherstripping on the door itself.

Didn't I read somewhere in here that the 60 series door strips work on the 55 doors? Also, I think SOR has some door strip...

sor has door strip for 55 a piece.

Yep, this is what I did on mine. The cost is about the same if you buy oem but I had a few 60's sitting around. Great option for those who have more parts then money.

So its 2012 and JC whitney has changed their part codes....has anyone figured out the new corresponding codes for all this weather striping that has been painstakingly organized. i need it!

I have called jc whitney and asked them to cross reference and they can't or won't? maybe i got lazy customer service rep? anyone else try?

anyway a link to a new updated list would be great.

thx

Well that is a huge PITA!

Makes is tough to keep this thread current if the p/n's change every year.

The lack of cust service is surprising. We have this thread basically driving business to them and they don't want to/won't provide help needed to close sale?

Their business must be doing so well they don't need to exert the effort. Must be nice...

While I am still on a rant, I would say why not check out SLO Cruiser for parts weather strip parts for a 55 AND support a Cruiser-head business at the same time.

John is very helpful!

thanks slo cruisers

Just got some toys sent from John at SLO Cruisers and he is the man. I was at work so I kept getting interrupted, but he was patient and informative. Can't wait to see the parts- tailgate window runs and cool outside handle gaskets! Wow cool parts.

Support your local vendors! Lest they disappear.

i would but i cant afford it...the truck cost half as much as the SLO weatherstripping package and its a daily driver! it just needs rubber replaced and a paint job after i fabricated new floor pans and rockers.

SInce JCW keeps changing p/n's, I will plug these guys who were very helpful and I believe ship nationwide:
Alright, I took the day off (since my Birthday was this week) and drove down to Denver and bought the Pig some presents...

Heather at B-D was very cool, very helpful. These guys rock!

For the outer window felt, I went with the WEA/75001371: http://www.b-dco.com/ecom/shop/item.aspx?itemid=1822
It had felt on the side that wipes the window, so I hope it fits well.

I went with a very similar bulb seal to what Ige listed, but there was a p/n 1364 that was similar size, lower price. STA/75001364
http://www.b-dco.com/ecom/shop/item.aspx?itemid=30
$52.25 for a 24' coil. She sold me a 12' coil, and I only need about 4' for the vertical around the tailgate opening. I'll trim and install and then if someone else can use some, let me know!

For the weatherstrip that goes under the bottom of the tailgate opening, we spec'd out AUV/4742: http://www.b-dco.com/ecom/shop/item.aspx?itemid=1214 Looked like a good match to what was on there

I did not go with the dense tee rubber for the cowl seal. The area that would adhere is so narrow, I think it would fold over and fail. She gave me a sample of D-seal WEA/CS104: http://www.b-dco.com/ecom/shop/item.aspx?itemid=304 that I will try for size when I get a minute.

Hope that helps!

Pablo,

On that Cowl Seal, is that the area, I have pictured and if not, what would you call those two pieces.

Thanks, Ron
