I sat down and read this thread over lunch. I'm now more confused than ever. Is the first post up-to-date?

I totally agree, I have no idea what is good on this thread anymore.

No, the first post is NOT up to date. This is an ever evolving thread because some stock that was available, is not anymore. Also some things have become available that were not then. I know it's confusing, but short of someone taking the time to document their entire weatherstripping project, it's probably best just to ask specific questions.

It's been a year or more since I finished my quest for weatherstripping, and I know that some parts I got aren't available anymore. Also, I bought as close to OEM as I could get, but that was pricey. Some may just want what works.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this- what is the current working solution to the door window track seal? My drivers is starting to fall into itself.....

Do you mean the window run for the door, or the felt wiper where the door meets the window?

NOT the felt-the actual door window track that the window slides up into when it is rolled up. It is collapsing and binding the window. Thank you...

Front to back- w/ research of p/ns along the way....Window track for the doors is still available @ JCW. The frame mounted welting is a fairly universal type shape and I think I can still find at a few places. Now, on the door mounted weatherstrip- I cannot find these #s on JCW. Are the rare spares easy enough to get, IOW has anyone ordered from them?

Have e-mail in to rare spares. Will post up re: any response

pablocruise is correct. pv sold their stuff to cabe.

My apologies...I made the assumption that anyone reading through this thread (or just about any other TG weatherstrip thread of the last year or so) would know that. Of course, if you are new you would not know that unless you read the whole thread.

Again my apologies. There is no OEM FJ55 rubber left that I know of anywhere with the exception of the occaisional horder or lucky find. (Cruiserguy...you lucky fellow ;))

However, those locations previously mentioned have rubber for those functions. PV's was a technological improvement on the OEM and John's / SloCruisers was a replica of the OEM. IIRC

BTW- I have both the cargo from Cabe/PV...very nice pcs.

This is a valuable thread but am I right in that
1. We as a group have not decided to fab up something new
or
2. We haven't found a sample (ie the cowl rubber) that someone can work with to have it fabbed?

BTW: Eric---good idea on recap on Post #579...it was a good idea to catch some folks up.

Bob Brown from rare spares says that 5 kilos ships staeside on the 10-12 week plan for about 85 bux, and the 2 week plan on a plane is usually about 95 bux(not sure if he was giving the shipping to me in metric or american). I'm gunna save pennies and give it a whirl....

I am thinking someone went this way like troll?

You might want to start a seperate thread asking for feedback on Rarespares as some may not be following this thread as for them it may be passe.

I was under the impression from the past that there was not a lot of difference from some of the stuff in the USA.?

I am not up on it though.
