Paint each letter a color of the rainbow

Marshall, I almost forgot. If you're gonna do this, a good trick is to use Vaseline (This could get ugly in the BG2F thread....). You can use it as a mask where you don't want the paint. You can use q-tips, toothpics, etc. to manipulate the small points/edges. I've done it on 2 different valve covers and it is TONS better than masking the letters.

For the miata valve cover, I laid down my white base, then put Vaseline on the top of each letter, used the toothpick to clean up around the edges. Laid down the orange, and then when the paint was dry, you just wipe off the vaseline, and there you go. It also works well on unpainted valvecovers. Better than sanding in my opinion.

the lower end is at the machine shop being bored 40 over, decked, balanced and cleaned.

It's getting a billet RV cam.

Looking at turning 5 to 6 thousand rpms out of it and hopefully push well over 200hp out of it.

Marshal what brand of paint is that??? where did you get it. I had seen this thread a while back when you started it ...seen the pic of the rainbow engine on the first page and thought you were joking....anyways really cool....so is it a 3f or a 2f?? what truck is it going into?

I'm pretty sure it's a 2f. But it has a lot of things a 3fe block would have. It's an 87. So I've been a little confused on what it really is.

What kind of paint did you say it was (Brand)?? are you using a gun to shoot it??? is it base and clear or just one stage??

I think the crank is fawked - there is a noticable groove about 1 mm in from the front of the crank - gonna try and pull the fan and timiing cover/gear to get a better look later this week - kinda sick now
