Just nasty...."Shasta McNasty", I tell ya! They were a dark oily/greasy mess is what they were.....Yep, thought about the before photos, after I found out the retaining rings were a brass color in lieu of black paint. I was shocked.....That is what happens when I get bored, for therapy I crawled under my rig, and went to cleaning. Got that breather on the axle cleaned up as well and did the rear axle breather too.

Humor is good for the soul!.....Next, body mounts! Sounds like a great weekend project for me.
 
I'm finishing my own knuckle refurb this weekend, and I've got some pretty disgusting pics of my balls I won't be shy about showing:eek:
 
New Body Mounts Update: Two out of the twelve bolts bolts have me at a standstill till a sawzall is obtained. Care to guess which two? The most forward inner body bolts near the frame, same one each side..........DARN, I'd have my new mounts installed already if it wasn't for those two pesky rusted ol' 14mm bolts! As for the other ten bolts, I loosened them up, shot 'em again with WD40, and ran them back in.
 
Well, 16% failure rate after 38 years? Can't complain too much!
 
Had a hour to spare last night, so I decided to address a noisy drivers side door. Removed the handle, opener/lock bezel, window crank, and removed the panel....look at what I pulled out:

After removal of years worth of, "How did that get in there", :confused: I took white lithium grease to the cranking mechanism and gears. I installed some foam padding where the locking linkage was ratting on the door. Also readjusted the window channel felts that had fallen into the bottom of the door....and all these channels & felts will be an up and coming replacement before too long.

Door didn't rattle getting in this morning, nor while driving to the office. :grinpimp:
 
All of those items can be sold on Ebay or Craigslist. :)
 
Close-up photos always makes things larger than they really are......;)

Now, time to get a Dremel Multi-Max and a MM485 cutting blade to cut those rusty ol' M10 body mounting bolts.

Good one!....On the lumber in my door panel, I'll post up some photos of what can be done with that square piece of pine and a pocket knife, courtesy of my late Grandfather and Me.

Survival you say.......Sounds like that Merit Badge I acquired back in the early 80's on my way to becoming an Eagle Scout. Believe you me, being an avid outdoorsman I can make do with what ever Mother Nature provides. :)

Most of these were done by my Grandfather, but I've got my marks on several of them. :)

Most were done by my Grandfather while at CCC camp in North GA way back when.....Some of them have several links and ball in cage done by me. But you can tell which are which......:doh:
