Tellico b/w Xmas and New Years?

Crazy question guys - I'm probably going to be driving up there in a tractor trailer. I've emailed Crawford's as a back up already, but does anyone know of a place close to the cabins that I could park? I'm fine with going to Crawford's and staying, but if I get a spot in the cabin, I'd hate to be paying for the cabin AND renting a spot for 2 or 3 days at Crawford's.

There would be no room to park or turn around a semi at Chuck Davis' cabins. Spanky normally drives his tractor/trailer to Crawford's for GSMTR.

One off the wall option to call about is the cabin (trailer?) that Chuck Davis used to rent out near the junction of Davis Branch road and Beaver Dam road. Behind that cabin is a large flat pasture that would be fairly convenient to the cabin and the trails. (cable is out at the house & the Davis website is blocked at work, so I can't confirm that he still rents out that cabin) If you call Chuck Davis, he might be able to tell you if this is an option for you. This would save some time and hassle running down Beaver Dam road to get to Crawfords, plus keep you close to the crew in the cabin.

Hey Armytaco, we may need to coordinate a little. It sounds like you and I are in similar situations. I'm cool going wherever, but I'd like to be in the cabin just for ease of access to the trails and the comeraderie. By the way, Crawford's camp is a pretty good drive to the trails. It's been a while since I've been to Tellico, but for the sake of argument, I'd call the cabins about halfway to the trails from Crawford's. I'm pretty sure I'll be at Crawford's though at this point cause I don't think I'm gonna easily find anywhere else big enough for my big rig. At least not at short notice. Let me know what spot you get so I can look for you when I get there late Monday night.

Did you call them today too? The guy said some guy named Steve called wanting the same dates. Anyway I am not sure what exact spot I got yet. He made it sound like I could choose which one I wanted when I got there. But I will be sure to look out for you. I would like to be closer too but dont think I can afford a cabin for two people at this time. I figured I could hang out with everyone and just more or less just sleep at the campground. I figured we would be wheeling and shootin the .... most of the time anyway. If the map is correct Crawford was aprox. 8 miles from trail 1. The cabins are about half way between Crawfords and trail 1.

Ted,

Got your PM.... I think I am rather questionable. Trying to talk the wife into it, but I do not think it will happen. I would rather not hold the spot up for now. If it ends up that I go, I will figure out lodging on the fly.

Andrew

Putting out feelers: after the meeting last night there was an interest to do a run up to Tellico around Dec 29-31. This is a Monday -Wednesday trip. We wold be looking into getting a cabin but not hard plan right now.

Who's interested?

The Committed list is changing a little right now, stay tuned for possible cabin space.

The cabin is officially reserved and the names above fill in the cabin. We are staying at the Grand Cherokee of TellicoCabins.com right where the pavement ends on Trail 1, its advertised to sleep 10. Cost per person will work out to be roughly $40-45 per person for the 2 nights depending upon how many actually show up for the first cabin. I've alerted them of Earl's attendance but sure it will not be a problem for one or 2 more.

There may still be additional space. I know Tellico cabins has 4 cabins of which we have the large one reserved. If there are enough to fill out one of the others that would be great.

Brian (come on Brian get it in gear!)

We're going to confirm the cabin residents no later than Saturday and perhaps sooner.

On the waiting list for cabin space is Army taco and 4xsteve--Guys I assume you both want to join us in cabin, if I'm wrong please correct me.

For Josh, Brian and any others still waiting on work to clear up perhaps there is an air mattress on the floor in your future.

If there are any doubts on who gets what room, I get the king bed.:flipoff2:

Always good to meet future members of the Ga Cruisers (hint). The closest campgrounds are either Crawford or the state line, can't tell you which is closer. As far as the cabin, the names may change a little b/w now and Saturday but the cabin is full at this point.

It sounding like there will be about 10 rigs of varying capabilities, some stockers or near and some more capable rigs. We'll figure out how to perhaps divvy up 2 groups that can run comparable trails when we get there. till then, good to have you on board.

Sounds good man, thanks alot. Anybody want to meet prior to leaving and follow eachother?( no clue how to get there).

Not to sound dumb. But Saturday as in which Saturday? And the run is After christmas correct?

as far as the cabin is concerned I need to provide a final head count by this Saturday. The trail run is the 29-31 which is a Mon-Wed.

saw this just before I went to bed. Thanks for letting me know.

See updates on first post for cabin roster.

Armytaco - Yes, I had called them that day. Didn't officially reserve yet, probabaly will today though. I may park away from you if I get there late though so I don't disturb you in my big diesel; just move the next morning. Looks like there may be another guy needing camping so we may have a little group there ultimately.

Tkinze - I am going to be parking the big rig at Crawford's for sure. I'm figuring on stopping at the cabin on the way out each day and at least hanging out til people start heading to bed. So don't hold a spot for me, but if there ends up being one when I get there, there's a slight chance I'll still take it. Or if I'm too tired or have been drinking I may toss out my air mattress as a last resort.

2000UZJ - Myself and armytaco are likely going to be staying at Crawford's camp so you're welcome to join us there. www.crawfordsattellico.com It's a pretty good drive in to the trails each day but it's a nice camp with all amenities. Stateline campground is primitive camping with outhouses if I remember right but it's right where all the trails are. You could get more sleep and save a lot of gas and miles on your truck staying there.

4xsteve and Armytaco- My brother and I will be most likley staying with you guys. How far of a drive is it? I looked at there map and couldnt really tell:confused: (shows my map reading skills). oh yea, im alot younger than most of you so hope you don't mind.(18)

Well I am 22 and my wife is younger so its good.

About the cabin... I will have my wife with me so I wasnt sure what sleeps 10 meant as far as beds and what not. I guess we will see when it comes closer to that time.

Im kinda in the boat with Steve. I will def hang out and will only use the campground to sleep and clean up. I dont think it will be too bad since there will be a little group of us there. We will see how things change b/t now and then as far as cabin space and everything.

This is what I am going in and probably the most extreme obstacle I have done so far. So use this to put me in the appropriate group. I did make it up it by the way.

O.K. folks things keep evolving as time gets thinner. Heres the latest on my status. My Brother and nephew are coming down from Old Pa. So that means I need 3 more slots. Of course they have very little money as well. So I think I'm going to have to back out of the 10 person cabin, unless we want to maybe split another cabin 3 ways ? Option B : We'll be staying at Crawfords also. Can anyone help a brother out here??? P.S. This is allready turning into an exspensive trip---It cost be $250 to get the shift of at the fire house on Monday.

We need a confirmed list of who is staying where.

Crawford:
Means my brother
4xsteve
Armytaco

Those are the three guys I know of. We may just camp in the back and throw a tent at the trail opening. As of now we are definately in.
