Dumb question, but gotta ask - does the cabin have a kitchen? I gotta know what to bring fo dinna. If it does, I may break out the chili recipe...

Both the Grand Cherokee cabin and the fee station cabin have kitchens with a fair supply of cutlery and dishes. With either, you may want to wash them before you use them, but that is only a suggestion. When we had the Grand Cherokee a couple years back, the dishes had probably been run through the dishwasher, but the silverware divider in the draw was dirty so little gained. Once we noticed this, we just reloaded the dishwasher with the divider and rewashed it what we used before using it. Easy solution with a full kitchen.

In fact; as I recall it, the Grand Cherokee had dish TV (or something similar) plus phone service. You should be able to watch the tube or post to mud while you are there if that is what you want to. The cabin close to the fee station does not have this. It is on a generator, so no phone or TV. It does have full kitchen minus a dishwasher.

It may be chili time then. Good luck and enjoy

what time are we going to be running the trails? and on wendsday, what time is everyone heading back. my passenger wants to come back early. (cab time)

This a very casual get together, no schedules or hard plans. My intention is to get up there around noon on Monday and go wheeling for a few hours leaving the most to do on Tuesday. We'll figure out what to do on Wednesday when we get up there. Some will leave early and others will stay longer and wheel all day.

Each one of us probably should bring same extra gasoline to avoid trips back into Murphy.

Is the gas station by the convenience store not open this time of year? What about the gas station at Crawford's?

Well I will be leaving Macon about 7am. I said it will take about 5 1/2 hours to get there. So hopefully I will be there around early afternoon. Whos getting there when and whats going on? I plan on setting up camp and everything before I go wheeling just to be setled and ready for the cold night. I would like to go hit a few trails maybe that afternoon if anyone is willing or around then.:steer:

Armytaco - you get my PM from a few days ago? Do you know where you're gonna be yet? I've only got a few places I can park.

I won't get to leave Jacksonville til at least 10am. And at 65mph the whole way, I don't expect to get up there til pretty late. I'm hoping for 8pm but truthfully expecting 10 or midnight.

What's the plan for Tuesday morning? How, when and where is everyone meeting?

Why don't you guys come by the cabin Monday evening in case we somehow miss each other during the day Monday. :steer:

Steve-- you sure you don't want a bed in the cabin? Since you're coming in late we should all meet up at the cabin about 9:30-10 on Tuesday. I will PM a couple of the Crawford crowd my cell # but coverage is going to be spotty at best, otherwise we usually hang on Ch 4 or 14 on the CB.

FOOD-- As far as I can tell the cabin is fully functional w/ a "micro wave" and grill. I am planning simple, probably a steak one night and maybe burgers another. Haven't thought much about it though.

Hey guys, I have a possibility of a visitor wanting to tag along for the ride also. My buddy has a lifted FJ Cruiser and has expressed interest. Is there any problems with me inviting another Cruiser? I don't know yet if he'd be staying the whole time or just 1 day ride, but I wanted to check and make sure nobody had a problem with it and that there is room on the trail.

just saw this, no problem at all. not sure how we will break up a large group like this but we will figure that out on Tuesday AM.

I'm sure Chris will be able to meet up with you guys Monday sometime and get the info needed for the next morning. He can pass it on to me when I get there or the next morning. And yes, I do "want" a bed in the cabin. But I'm gonna have to park the semi at Crawford's no matter what.

Wow, I never saw that message get posted. I thought the system dumped it somehow. But thanks for the reply. Just talked to him last night though and he's not going to make it after all.

:bang:change in cabin plans:bang:

Got a call from Helen today, our cabin has water pipe damage and can not be occupied. Fortunately they have 2 smaller cabins that sleep 6 each. Due to the unfortunate problems she is allowing us to rent the 2 cabins for the price of just the Grand Cherokee so that means more room for us to spread out. Also means more beds for those last minute participants.

The ATV Den and the other cabin are right next to each other and located just up the hill from the Grand Cherokee cabin we were going to rent. Cell coverage is spotty but Verizon and Cingular may work depending upon your particular phone.

I will post this info on the first post as well.

Yes I got it. I responded but I guess it did not work? I have a water/electric hookup site so I will try to get closes toward the rv. I believe that bathhouse down that way is the only one open right now anyway.

I think they call the cabin next door the Lock 'em In cabin. Now that Chuck has the drive up to these cabins blacktop'd, it will be a easier to pack & unload at the cabins. There will be less living room and dining space in these cabins than the Cherokee, so meals and evening fun will be a little tighter. Also, the ATV Den cabin may have drive under parking for one vehicle which is a nice plus (either way one of the two cabins has the drive under).

The only complaint may be parking next to the cabins. I seem to remember that there is enough for ~2-3 trucks at each of these cabins. Depending on your count, parking down the hill maybe needed for a few vehicles. This is easily handled with an impromptu taxi service, but you may be able to ask for some considerations from the Davis' because the arrangements are less than what was planned and reserved.

Shut the "blank" up works fine too if that is what is needed here.

However through the years, the Ga Cruisers crew has typically opted for camping because cabins were considered too expensive while Melissa & I have been renting cabins for a decade now (a cabin was a requirement from the bride to gain permission for Melissa to stay a week at Tellico => no river baths for her baby). As a result, I have rented most available cabins on the NC and TN sides close to the trails. I brashly assumed that I had information and insight to the cabins that you might find useful.

If been annoying, please accept my apology.

Just giving you a hard time Larry, don't take it personally. the cabin info is actually is good input. Regarding the Ga. Cruisers, things are moving quickly over here so don't blink as something is bound to change.
