The new paint finally arrived just in time for Christmas, hopefully sometime next week I can start applying it. I’m going to coat the entire inside and underside with Noxyde and add the ceramic paint additive from Hy-tech to help with some sound deadening and insulation.

I hope the paint additive preforms as claimed!

Pablo,

Basically I’m making a similar product to LizardSkin's Ceramic Thermal Insulation coating, I would have just used the LizardSkin but I’m not convinced they had corrosion control as a primary concern when they formulated their product. For me adhesion and corrosion control are a primary concern so I’m using products that address these and modifying them to work like LizardSkin product.

Excellent advise on the Lizard Skin. You need to use the right primer before the LS. I went with this product, http://zero-rust.com/index.php. Don't know if good, bad or otherwise, but it sounded good. :)

Ron,

It was your build thread that inspired me tear mine down and have it sand blasted and then coated with some sort of heat and sound deadening (I’m not sure if I like or dislike you right now), I couldn’t find where LizardSkin was anything but Latex paint and I wasn’t sure about its durability. After reading about how you applied Monster liner over yours I assumed you felt the same way so I looked for a durable coating to add the ceramic beads to, right or wrong that’s how I ended up here. Now we need to talk about how your build has prompted a massive wealth transfer mainly form my account into the US economy, so much so that the president’s debt numbers don’t look so bad.

Damn you both!!!

I was thinking the same. Every time these two post something I'm on the hook for more money. Normally I wouldn't worry too much but their ideas and logic are hard to argue with. I can only aspire to be in a league close to them.

Merry Christmas.

Dude, your a machine. You ever stop?:):pig:

Thank you Bob, the wife said I had to knock off early to watch the grand babies open their Christmas Eve presents so I only got the interior body seams sealed today. My plan is to have engine in and ready to start next month so no slacking for me.

Thank you!

Ron is in the major league with his work of art, I’m still trying to find first base with mine.

JMack,

The air box is professional grade! very nice.

Thanks Ron, this box has been a pain in the butt and I'm glad to be almost done..

Merry Christmas to all!

Holy crap this build thread is AWESOME! Between your and Scrappydaays builds I need to come to the Iron Pig forum much more often, keep up the fantastic work!

Just posting this here for reference. I used four kits of Sem 39377 seam sealer to seal the interior floor, fire wall, rear wheel wells and the underside of the pig, I had bought these four kits to seal the entire pig so I grossly miscalculated how far a single kit goes.

Sprayed the Noxyde on the interior today and used the entire five, I will order another for the underside. So far I’m impressed with this product, looks to build well and has a nice finish even with the addition of the Hy-tech ceramic paint additive the stuff I pulled from the masking was very flexible.

Pictures!!!

Sorry Pablo,

I’ve been slacking on the pictures lately, last week I finished stripping the paint off the engine reassembled the engine then painted it with Cerakote, blocked most of the body for paint, seamed sealed the interior and under side then painted it with the rubberized membrane and in my spare time I had to get two rifles and ammo ready for my wife and I to compete in an out of town New year’s day long range match. When not working out in the shop I’ve been researching how convert my sealed LED lights to dual intensity lights for blinker running lights.
I’m a one man show with the occasional friend stopping by to enjoy a cold beer and heckle me for spending so much time and money on this ridiculous project, so it’s hard to keep this build thread up to date at times.

Hoping to get the pig painted this week and slow down a bit so I can take some time to update pictures.

Painted the body today, the Acrolon is definitely an industrial paint and goes on thick, it has a bit more orange peel than I was hoping for but this will be a daily driver that will see plenty of trails and branches so I’ll sacrifice looks for durability on this one.

No pressure, but pictures when you're ready. :)
Ron,

You set the bar so high with you build thread with quality pictures and content I'm going to have to buy a camera and learn to spell, it's a lot of effort trying to work on pigs and keep things updated over here.

Crappy cell phone pic but it’s all I have.

I know it a Heep but I liked the color and all the cool Pigs are Nebula green lately so I was looking for something different, anyway it looks more like this in person.
