i've never had issues with bulk hoses from Orielys or (insert automotive store here) leaking.

If your fittings/hose connections are rusty/corroded (as all landcruiser fittings are) this is generally the issue behind the leaking, not the fault of the hose.

That and when you take those OEM crap wire hose clamps off replace them with worm gear clamps. They will need to be re torqued in a few days as they will stretch.

A little trick to making a hose seal properly on an old engine/heater fitting that is rough from rust/corrosing, rub some high temp RTV silicone around the fitting before sliding the hose on. Make sure both the hose and the fitting are clean and dry before appling the sealer.

This method has worked for me for years with no issues.

I'd rather wear a tiger paw on my shirt than waste $50 on $20 worth of hoses.

Those OEM crap clamps are just as good if not better than worm clamps. At least you know the oem stuff is quality. If you don't know what you are doing you can buy some really s***ty worm clamps that can fail.

No crap, just buy any hose clamps from Harbor Freight and watch them break just from tightening them. OEM are good stuff, and if I could afford them I would replace them with OEM or salvage the ones on there. I often see people just cut the OEM clamps and go with worm clamps when there is nothing wrong with OE, they just don't know how to use them.

didn't touch it today. Too nasty outside.

Gabe - you should dig a hole. Put OEM, Napa, and autozone hoses in it. Whatever one able to hop out of the hole should be the one you go with. That hose's determination will be the key attribute need to keep dent on the road. Or if all fail, leave them out there for 6 months check to see which ones will be in the best conditions, i'm saying OEM.

I prefer the OEM clamps over the worm style any day, specifically because the OEM has 2 pressure/ contact points as opposed single pressure point on the worm, and as always you get what you pay for

and John Lee, you da man

John Lee is feeling his oats!

"You'd better listen son!"

My OEM belts and hoses lasted for about 230,000mi. I'll put them up against parts store hoses any day.

About the hole, if you haven't read the football thread, you won't understand.

i have read it and completely understand.

Gabe, that wasn't directed at you, just for all the lurkers out there...you know who you are!!

Those OEM **** clamps are just as good if not better than worm clamps. At least you know the oem stuff is quality. If you don't know what you are doing you can buy some really ****ty worm clamps that can fail.

i have no doubt those OEM clamps were good 20-40 years ago.

But most of them are so damn rusty you twist the s*** out of them trying to remove them.

I pull out the die grinder and remove them.

I don't know where your getting your worm gear clamps but i've used them on charge pipes holding 20-30 psi off of a large t3/t4 turbo and they held just fine. And the SS 2.5" pipes i made out the charge pipes out of were not flared at the connections.

But my clamps did not come from harbor freight.

If you love the wire style clamps i have boxes of them up here and you can have them for .50 each!!!!

If holding pressure is really that much of an issue they do make T bolt clamps which are tighter than a phrase i wont say on mud due to risk of being banned.

Either way...yes...OEM belts/hoses did last 20+ years but the quality of OEM belts/hoses is not as good as the quality was 20+ years ago and that goes across the board with OEM or aftermarket.

Are they worth the extra money...hell no.

and if you have a 1/2 belt a kevlar industrual duty aftermarket belt like a Thermond brand it is going to be stronger than any OEM belt.

got the radiator out today. Started trying to do some degreasing as well. I was amazed at how much red clay came out of my radiator grill:eek:!! Got to source the hoses and still waiting on the pump. I ordered it from the website trollhole told me about but haven't heard as much as an confirmation email from them.
