STOLEN FJ45 Tailgate!!!!

I knew someone was lying. I don't like being lied to.

I bid on the original tailgate. From 65-FJ45's post, it sounds like GAry knew where it was the whole time, but told me otherwise. He spoke with 65 on Saturday. I never talked to him until almost a week later. I have emails from him to prove that I was mislead into believing it was stolen. They offered me a tailgate at their cost. I am sceptical about 'their cost'....But I figured something is better than nothing b/c at that point, I did believe it was stolen....no scrap guy is going to throw it out...come on, I'm not 12.

I posted here on MUD because I knew it would come out in the open, stolen or not. I just think TLC should be held responsible for dishonest business. I still have hope they will make it right.

Yeah, I do need the latches, catches, hinges, and chains. All things that TLC OWES me now since they didn't send any with the repro.

I don't want to hurt anyone personally. But I also don't like dishonesty on TLC's part. Put yourself in my shoes, what would you do?

I, too, want to move on...but no one is coming to me with any concrete resolution. I'm am a very easy going person.

yup, basing your opinion on somebody else's word can be a real bitch if the facts you're basing your opinion on are false or outright lies. does'nt do much for your reputation either. been there, done that. and it sucks so i feel for ya.

i completely understand your point of view. afterall, you won the bidding on the tailgate and paid for it. fair and square.

i also understand jonathan's predicament since his employee SEEMS TO BE the only contact person and he's the only one who really knew what happened. either way, that makes jonathan responsible and it's not fun, nor is it good for his reputation or business.

this whole thread bums me out.

i will look for the extra tail gate parts on monday and will get back to you guys.

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but my chains look just like that. What I mean is that one of the hooks is longer and a thinner diameter than the other. Is that normal?

I was thinking last week that maybe I have a mixed set from different year models or something. If that set is mixed, and my set is mixed, maybe we could create even more Cruiser Karma by doing some chain swapping.

What's the issue ,it appears 1Tontoy is keeping the new tailgate. Isn't that how it worked out? It might help if you explain. Sounds like your still pretty upset,so whats up?

Here is a pic of mine. One of them is 3/4" longer than the other and has a sharper bend in it. It doesn't really look homemade to me, but they are different. I was just thinking that if someone else had two different size hooks, maybe we could swap and create two matched sets instead of two mismatched sets.

I would start a new thread regarding the chain and hook. It is off topic from the original thread post so many are not seeing it.
