Be REALLY impulsive and get a new M6.....HAWT

I knew the minute I read the title of the thread that something was wrong, JP and thinking those two things dont go together or dont work right when they do. Why dont you try paying for the cruisers, the wedding, the house, the new garage you say your building, the wood floors, etc, etc and then worry about a car. See you Sat, have my money. :flipoff2:

As much as I hate hearing this advice as well. (Usually from my wife.) I cannot agree more.

cruisers paid for ;p
house not mine ;)
garge wedding present :bounce2:
wood floors???? the carpet is growing on me
you will have your money :flipoff2:

Its good that they are paid for, etc etc. And I have no clue how much these M5's cost.
But, its easy to put other things on the backburner that need to be done when looking at guys toys!! Heck I keep seeing 40's and how I could weasle around stuff and buy one.

The wife is the one who keeps me grounded and thinking with a straight head. Not the wow, that looks cool, I could really use that or I need that, etc. And she is open, but its usually well if yo usell this or get rid of this, then you can buy______.

Now in my opinion if the saturn is dying then get another car, but be sensible. (My personal DD's are a 62 thats lifted with low gearing and a 1963 Kandy Green Chevy wagon with a 3 on the tree.) Do I love them, yes, but at times I really wouldnt mind having one vehicle I coul ddrive where ever without any issue and have all the nice bells and whistles!

But who am I kidding, with the wife hopefully getting a 100 in the next 6 months and we will continue to have somethign thats nice and fun to drive. (Like our 4runner.) And who knows maybe I will sell the wagon to fund the 100 and get a stock 40 to drive around. :bounce:

So there are always 2 sides to it, just think them through and make your + and - lists and go from there. With Mary E's input as well.

Thanks for the good advice Matt! I actually sat down with Mary E last night and we went through all the pros and cons; mostly likely once I get my 62 sold and get our honeymoney paid for I will be on the hunt for a new car wether or not it is a BMW M5 it yet to be determined :D

Cruisers have been good to you, why not "keep it in the family" so to speak if you're looking for a sedan that will scoot??

My car I use for business has the bullet proof 100 series engine and similar 0-60 and quarter miles numbers you posted above...

not opposed to staying in the family at all...... what year and model exactly are we talking about; and of course cost

I have to admit I am a sucker for the Bimmers though :D

Yeah, I hear you. Bimmers have a uniqueness all their own, just like other expensive imports.

Lexus had posted similar performance numbers to the ones you mentioned (of course '91 versus '04 in this case, much different when the current M5 is compared ($$)) but I've never really worried about testing their accuracy - insanely fast driving is a thing of my much younger, distant past. I'll leave that to you and Steen. :D

2004 Lexus LS430 - It's not too flashy (which is good IMO) but it will def. move, especially for a large sedan. And you stay with a form of the 100 series power plant with the 3UZ-FE. :D

real muscle

Dude. If you have a need for speed get some real muscle.
Nothing beats an old muscle car.
I really loved the "pin your arse to the seat, can't reach the dash,
tire smokin', big block" Detroit irons.
Man I miss my old 66 Goat. Getting sideways when ya hit 2nd gear is way too much fun.
Covering the whole car in smoke before the thing moves off the line
is way cool.
I know, I know....the darn things go for a gazillion bucks nowadays. Bummer.
It saddens me that kids are priced out of these fun toys.
Thinking outside the box. Barry stuffs 454 big blocks into cruisers ya know. :grinpimp:
Smokin 4 tires at once would be a lot of fun.

What Andy said little bro. Lexus gives you the power of the BMW, plus the reliability of Toyota. Believe it or not, our brothers in blue keep an eye out for the M series guys, while a family looking Lexus (read here "no bling") may slide by. Love the 430!

Plus, marriage changes all the rules. Getting a speeding ticket when you are single? Your problem. Getting one when married? "Your" problem.

Thanks for all the wisdom fellas!!! to be honest though; the speed/performance isn't what is driving my search in particular. I really like the early 90's 5series design more than anything, it speed was my ultimate goal it'd be much cheaper to pick up a gen. 3 M3 there atons around and the cheap....

I am going to keep my eye out for another M5, but I am in no hurry. I going to be looking at 2002tii as well; those are my top two choices at the moment

we'll see

Now that says JP! How much? Any rust? Condition? This thread is useless without prices . . . ;)

well the original price on the 2002forum a little high like $13500 , after people told him there was no way he'd get that much he said he would reivise and would be open to fair offers so I am emailed him for a new price, we'll see

I am no 2002 expert but I have been looking for a while and I couldn't see paying 8-9k for it at most.........if it was the fuel injected version it would be worth a couple grand more but it is just an old single barrel; if I picked it up first thing to be done would be a dual webers, hotter cams, and headers/exhaust :D

but it is rust free expect for one tiny bubble on the wheel well, and he says it runs like a top. I will keep you guys informed

atleast this is something I would feel comfortable working own, compared to the M5

A friend of mine has one and drives it to work daily. Carolina Blue. Really a fun car, and if its rust free, then you've really got something.

Hum, my vote would be yes (but keep it stock).

okay shifting gears.......

Openads

its even clemson orange, can't get any better than that

That's the ugliest car I've ever seen.... but nothing a good coat of red and black paint couldn't fix. :grinpimp:
