Painted the sliders and painted the flare mounts since we don't have any yet. I call them Faux flares but they aren't as cool as Josh's faux-locks. I think they look pretty dang good.
Looking good sister!!

Looking good sister!!

Thanks! I know Matt's over it but there are just a couple more things that need to be done. It's trail ready now IMO, but we still need to install the seat sliders for the neon seats we put in on the passenger side and change the t-case fluid and that should be it. I know he wants to rebuild the front knuckles but I told him to not worry about it. We'll see if he listens ;p. Still waiting for the drive line spacer and the steering kit he ordered. Hopefully that's all and we are golden. I am just ready to get out there and get wheeling. I drank the kool-aid and now I can't stop...

A little flex for ya.

I like your wheel chocks.

Sent from another Galaxy

Best D*** wheel chocks I have had. Been using them for 7 or 8 years now. They wrap around the wheel nicely and the best part is they were free!!:grinpimp:

lookin good! i can't wait to see this truck in person.

Thanks Sean. I am about sick of wrenching on it, but I am looking forward to seeing how it stretches out. From my little test in the driveway, it looks like it is going to flex pretty well. It had more, but I ran out of lift on the floor-jack. I think the OME springs were a good call.

So I got the wheel spacers and drive-line spacers in today. Gonna pick up a little red lock-tite and try to knock those out tomorrow. Sky steering is due Thursday, since if it isn't raining I will be out with my little :princess: gathering the sweets, then that will have to wait til Friday or Saturday. So I think the before I leave list is as follows:

-Install Wheel spacers
-Install Driveshaft spacers
-Install Crossover Steering kit
-Finish Modifying and install passenger seat
-Drain and refill the Transmission
-Drain and refill the front diff
-Install and Wire some brake lights
-Install transmission shifter seat and sloppy shifter fix

The if I have time list includes:
-Full rebuild on the front axle
-Install and Wire my extra set of ELS 2x2 spots

And most importantly I have to make sure I have a way to get it up to Sparta next weekend!! Worst case I will rent a dolly or something from U-Haul, but I have some other options that I am working on.

I guess if Sam's build was "Especially Slow" then this one has been borderline "Insanely Fast"

Recap since we brought her home:

Rearend grenaded on the way home. And thus the deconstruction and rebuild began.

  • New Rear Differential
  • New bearings and seals (rear end)
  • Backing plate mod and new bearing retainers
  • Rebuilt rear brakes, new shoes and turned drums
  • Re-plumbed rear brakes from frame down with all new soft and hard lines
  • New OME 1.5" rear springs and poly bushings
  • rebuilt drive-shaft
  • New 4.16 Case with Twisted TT Rails (thanks clutch)
  • Trail tough Monster Kong I cradle and solid mounts
  • Neon seat mod
  • OBA delete - removed (temporarily) Tank and compressor
  • removed and modified/built a new propane tank mount
  • complete repaint and some "custom" graphics
  • New Battery
  • New 1.25" Front OME springs and poly bushings
  • Custom EOR Sliders
  • New window regulators in both doors
  • New aluminum handle pulls and a new opener mechanism on the drivers door
  • gutted a bunch of useless wiring
  • Complete new exhaust from the manifold back
  • ......
I am sure I have missed something, but that is about all I can think of right now.

I would like to get some new shocks, but those will wait for later.

D*** as Rance said earlier, With momma on board, time and budget seem to magically align to make the impossible, possible. That is what about 6 weeks of 8 and 10 hour Saturdays and Sundays as well as a few random late weeknights will get you.

Stay tuned. Should be a blast :steer:

I hate that I can't get through earlier to help ya out. If all goes as planned I'll be though Friday evening - and with open trailer space. :whoops:

Great work though and I hope to see y'all there.

So I am a little curious at the estimated total parts bill on this ;)

Heifer-net

Hugh, I will PM you as the Mrs has given me strict orders that she does not want to know what the total investment is.

Even though he let it leak last night. But I responded how much have we spent on just the 80? That doesn't count the 4Runner and Mini truck oh and the other 4Runner that's a yard ornament right now.

Hey hey hey.... in my defense all other vehicle related expenses have been spread out over a number of years and I can honestly say I don't know.

This one has been all in about 6 weeks so I actually have the stack of receipts from this rebuild fresh on my desk.

And I didn't tell you exactly, I just threw a random # out there at you.

Don't I know it!
We exchanged PMs. I was most curious because I know what all that would do to a check book on a 40, just curious how the Zuk stacks up. Interesting.

Deal!! You gonna try and make the ACC ride next weekend?

I wish I could. Every second weekend in my life is taken by another hobby. :meh:
