My beater has a weight issue. Taking it to my buddies shop for some quick work then back home to do Transgo and install the lowrange tcase

Haha! So I'm not the only person to remove the transmission and transfer case that way! It was sketchy for sure, but not that bad, really. I left the bellhousing on and used a hi lift on the slider to get the truck up high enough.

I will DEFINITELY be re-installing the engine, trans, and transfer case all together with a hoist, though.

I'm glad I removed my bell first. Cause I would have forgot the line connected to the TB. I would have ripped that clean off! It also made it easier to sneak around the sway bar.

I've been thinking about putting the engine and tranny together and dropping it back in like that (no tcase to save weight). But my 80s on my driveway with a slight slope. It was already sketchy enough with me and my buddy trying to pull the complete motor up 3 feet into my garage. I'm not looking forward to adding another 300 pounds to the thing to roll back into the bay. I might just do them seperate just out of safety and weight issues.

I can get it mostly in the engine bay and then attach the tranny/bell to the motor while hanging on the cherry picker. Same way I got it out. Wasn't the most fun but it worked and wasn't as sketchy.

Heads ready to bolt to the block. This sucker is heavy even with the cams out. I'm afraid I'll snap the new timing guides given the weight and height of how high I need to lift it.

Going to see if I can get a buddy over tomorrow to help me drop the head on safely. Otherwise I'll try the cherry picker.

Stuff done tonight
1. Added new valve shims
2. Modded the pesky heater hose hard pipe (cut a notch so its easier I need to remove it in the future). Hopefully never again cause I already did it once in the truck already.
3. modded the new fuel pump (cut a notch flor easy change in the future). Probably never again either.
4. Bolted on:
A. Lower plenum
B. @NLXTACY pretapped coolant water pipe
C. Alt bracket
4. Installed new VSV
5. rewrapped ecu harness with silicone flex tape
6. Got tranny cleaned and ready for next step

The wife helped me lift my land cruiser head on to my block. Couldn't have done it alone. Its just too heavy, long and tall for a one man job with out breaking the new timing chain guides. She was not to happy about it. I was super happy she was actually helping me.

From there I was able work on it myself and got to torque the head bolts, install the cams, set it to top dead center, install distributor, chain tensioner, knock sensors, 4 other head sensors, fuel filter, engine main wiring harness, fuel rail, fuel pressure regulator, egr pipe, PHH pipe, upper intake manifold, alternator and filled it up with 8 qts of oil. I think I need to add another half to 1qt of oil in it. I probably missed a few things that I didn't remember to list. Otherwise I got a ton done tonight. Tomorrow I'll be wrapping up intake side then moving on to the exhaust side to install the Turbo parts. Looks like I'm setup to install the engine back in this weekend! It's been apart since mid Nov.

What is the sensor near your oil filter?

What is the sensor near your oil filter?

Using a oil sandwich plate and VDO 360 025 Gauge Pressure Sender.

Aka aftermarket oil pressure sensor that will be going to my PLX module. I'm using Joey's brand new OEM fuel pressure sender in the factory spot with the Peace Tee. I wanted both factory cluster indicator (even though it's pretty dumb) and the aftermarket sensor. If there's a drop in oil pressure I want to know about it ASAP so I can get my lead foot off the accelerator pedal promptly!

Exhaust side bolted up and turbo is clocked and drain line positioned.

Added heat sleeve on the egr pipe. Will add more heat sleeve on the main wiring harness tomorrow.

Working on repairing knock sensor wiring tomorrow.
Removing part time spool out of tcase and reinstalling VC for fulltime.
Transgo shift kit.

Sat or Sun will be to stab in either the engine or trans. hopefully both this weekend.

Hopefully I'll do a first start next weekend.

Is the oil pressure sending unit directly mounted on the sandwich plate? I remotely mounted mine with a stainless steel line on one of my previous car builds. My concern was that the sender would vibrate off the plate from being directly mounted.

It's direct on sand plate. I'll keep an eye on it. That sensor is oil pressure so it'll be the first to alarm if it wiggle off. Lol

Just curious what brand/material heat sleeve you used?
DEI (slip on style) on the Egr pipe. You loosen both the giant nut and bottom 2 bolts on head. Slide it over top nut and then back down. Use new gasket on head. Or buy the Velcro kind by Thermo and apply on top. I used the slip on since I obviously had ready access to the pipe.

PLX and a brand new OEM TRD boost gauge. I like old school and I like new school but I don't really need 2 boost gauges. Thinking about selling the TRD boost gauge. What do you think?

The TRD boost gauges are super hard to come by now and they look like they sell for Stupid Money.

However if I don't install both gauges I'm going to have an empty hole in my Delta shifter console going to be naked I need something to go in there if I sell the TRD boost gauge

Hard not to love those TRD gauges, I opted to just go speedhut since I’m thinking of switching the 62’s cluster gauges over to them as well.

What else do you have in the Delta console?
