Woody, I'd like to drive up from Vegas, but don't get off of work till around 13:00 on Saturday. Is it finalized dinner will be at Sonny's/Lonny's in "Hurkin" on Saturday night? If so, what time is everyone meeting there? Still planning Sand Hollow trails on Sunday or is it just a wrap up? @woody

I'm in TX now, at a meeting today...will be stopping by Lonny Boy's when I get home to check on their back room availability.

Posted earlier today too, but Sand Hollow trails on Sunday as well.

Let me know if I can do anything for prep or make calls for reservations!

@Hondu thanks for the invite! I would be leaving after work on Thursday so I think I would be to GJ between 10-11pm. I feel this may be a bit late to show up, so I'm thinking camping out and meet up in the morning. Im not familiar with the Swell either, where is that?

The San Rafael Swell is an amazing remote region just west of Green River, UT. About 2 hrs west of GJ. You’ll drive through it on your way to the meetup.

Also, 10-11 isn’t too late. Both myself and my housemate are night owls so no worries if you want to crash at my place. Million dollar views of the grand valley too. ;) Not trying to pressure you, just letting you know you are welcome whenever. If you do decide to camp, I’d still be down to rendezvous Friday morning.

This sounds great @Hondu, thank you for the offer. It appears the weekend is coming together (I'm dog sitting for friends and working on the fill in sitter). I will keep you posted but Thursday after work I plan on heading your way.

THIS WEEK!!!

Tentative schedules:
Thursday - arrival and set up - dinner on your own, grills available at the HQ

Friday - East Rim trail and Milts Mile - East Rim is a long trail, but offers spectacular views of the Arizona Strip. Milt's is a 3 rated trail, perfect for stock-ish rigs but has TONS of optional 4-6 rated lines available for those needing more adrenaline (Heather drove the buggy on that trail yesterday) - Potluck dinner at the HQ, don't forget your grilling items

Saturday - couple thoughts (following some coffee/breakfast at River Rock in LaVerkin)...Grand Canyon North Rim is 200 miles roundtrip, and the views are amazing...alternatively, could run up Gooseberry Mesa and end up at the ghost town near Rockville...still deciding on this one - Dinner/BBQ at Lonny Boys

Sunday - run up to the Toquerville overlook and Toquerville Falls including the 5 creek crossings. GREAT photo ops for the group, and those needing to head out can do so early afternoon. Those hanging thru Sunday will jump onto the West Rim trail (also full of easy/challenging options)

Anyone from SLC (or coming through SLC) that would be willing to deliver an 80 Series lift kit (4 coils/4 shocks) to Jeff Border at the event?

Get them to me. I'll strap them to the Kimberley.

Sweet, we've got to finalize everything first but if so I'll get with you. Thanks Dan!

On that note, is anyone coming up from Albuquerque? I need my spare 80 Series upper and lower tailgates for my wife's truck.....don't ask....

Thursday after work at the earliest. More likely Friday morning.

Dammit! Work always gets in the way...

Pre-event once over...

HQ Rooms are:

Cam - arriving Thursday eve (he's in town this weekend, just found out)
Maggie - arriving Friday aft
Joel/Jody - arriving Saturday aft, enroute to SEMA

COMPLETELY forgot that Joel/Jody were stopping...Joel is an editor for 4WD Toyota Owner Mag, hopefully we can talk him into riding along for a bit ;)

Please PM me if you are planning to park/camp outside at the HQ, and what your ETA is. Also PM for the addy.

Camping around Toquerville Falls will be perfect this time of year...nights in the mid-upper 40's, nice warm days. It's about a 30-40 minute drive from my house (at sane speeds...5.5 miles from town). Turn off at Spring Drive, headed East...first 3/4 mile is paved, then the next mile-two is the roughest and uphill. IMO, the best spots are after you cross over the Falls....a couple good clearings about 150 yards downstream on the E side. Might be worth hiking ahead...one for sure has a turnaround for a camp trailer (2nd one I believe). There are others before the Falls too, a handful of small two-tracks that head E just as you pass the roughest section of road. Again, a quick walk is advised for any of those.

There is no cell coverage at the Falls...nice and peaceful :)

Google Maps

I believe I'm going to forgo the North Rim plan on Saturday....200 miles round trip on a poor gravel road is quickly an 8 hour ride...Have a few other options, betting the group will be small enough to wing it :) Exit point on Saturday will be from River Rock Roasting regardless ;)

Ah shoot was looking forward to the North Rim trek. I'm definitely putting that on the to-do list for future plans.

Thanks again @woody for all the planning and location! Very much looking forward to this weekend!
