Anyone know where I can source windshield hinge pins and bushings? I checked Toyota as well as a couple of vendors with no luck, and searching past threads I found nothing as well. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Scott

I called SOR today and they told me they didn't have any windshield pins or bushings. Do these other companies have the windshield pins and bushings or just the door pins and bushings like SOR?

Thanks
Scott

w/s hinge pin should be the same as the door hinge pin, so........if you dealer can get them for you, you should prolly get them there.

Best

According to SOR and what I have removed from the hinge, the windshield pin and bushings are smaller than the door and hood hinge bushings and pins. The only way they are serviced through Toyota is buy purchasing the entire hinge assembly.

I have just painted the hinges and would like to have stainless pins to put back in since the ones I took out were almost rusted through. I have considered purchasing a set of stainless door pins and turning them down on a lathe to match a brass bushing if I can find a bushing with the correct O.D. off the shelf.

I am in the process of rebuilding all my door, hood etc. hinges. Once taken apart hit the parts stores, Lordco, Napa etc. They should have a selection of various brass door bushings and stainless pins. I picked up a bunch that were the closest to what I needed then simply drilled the holes in the hinge to accept the new bushing. They are very much stronger than the nylon ones and immediately available should you need to replace, although I doubt they will need replacing. Couple of dabs of synthetic grease and good to go. Tighter than nylon and bullet proof. As to the front bib hinge I did the same thing. Pulled the old pin actually used the special tool all of us that work on cruisers have. "BFH" Same stores have a good selection of brass bushings, various thickness and diameter of opening. Picked the ones I needed I think 7/16's drilled the hinge, grade 8 bolt and I'm good to go for life. and no more seized hinges.

Thanks, I will head down to the local part house today and see what I can find.

On my 78 the door and windshield hinge pins are the same. I had to cme up with a different solution for the rear doors. The nylon bushings were the same for all the doors and windshield hinges.

I used these from SOR

Thanks for all your posts, after all of the good info I recieved from this post I decided to go out and look again at why the bushings were not fitting. I found out that I had paint build up around the holes which prevented the bushings from going in. I trimmed the build up off and the bushings went in perfectly which means the pins will work perfectly as well.

I really am supprised that SOR didn't know they were the same considering if they would have told me they were the same I would have purchased pins and bushings from them, but it seems like I learn something new everyday.

So to clarify, did you use the same bushings for the rear door hinges? How did you get the pins out of the rear door hinges?

Again, thanks for all your help.

Same bushings. I took a grinder and ground down the pin head just short of grinding thru and hitting the hinge. I then drilled about 1/4" into the ground end of the pin and drove it thru with a small diameter punch. I used a bench vise with a socket large enough for the head of the pin on the other end to slide into.

The SS socket head bolt shown in the photo did not need to be trimmed and the nut is a SS nylok. The bolt and nut are different grades of SS to reduce any tendencies to seize. I also used an antiseize agent. I used two SS flat washers to minimize the wear on the powder coat.

Bump, anyone know who sells the hinges or pins or bushings?

Do you still need these Ben?

I rebuilt my worn hinges with OiLite bushings. The oversized bushings allowed for drilling out the oval holed hinges to make them round again. I’m planning on getting 5/16x4.5-5” stainless bolts to replace the pins and use stainless acorn nuts on the top to keep them in. I’m planning to run from bottom up to make removal easier.
