I'm still pending work schedule......so hopefully I'll see some of you folks, if I do.....I'll pop in towards the end of the week for a couple days.

The easy way is mark the dizzy and block for your max and min timing marks, then turn the dizzy as needed. Maybe add one for ~12* to jump right to as needed.

@SoTexCruiserDoc, little dude has made his entrance. All good in the 'hood. We're all headed to the house this afternoon.

Exactly. Fun fact, High Altitude Compensation would add 6 degrees starting at 4k ft. So bare minimum mark your line for 13* since you will be at 8k ft at the KOA and if you go up Imogene (which you definitely should/will), you'll peak at 13k ft. Your 3F likely has leaner jets at this moment (something like a 136/138 primary and 200/220 secondary) so once you bump your timing, feel free to use your choke to adjust.

Furthermore, since it's a 3F and likely a rest of world (ROW) truck, you should have a hand throttle. Using a mixture of choke and hand throttle will compensate for your needs (which is very dependent on engine vacuum). The closer to 22inHg at idle, at sea level, the better or off you are at high altitudes.

Last but not least....it's fun to bring a vac gauge, you can do some quick adjustments, otherwise a quick spin on the idle screw will be enough to bring idle speed up.

One other question regarding high-altitude carb adjustments... I've got a carbureted 3F and the jets aren't for high altitude. Should I just plan on bringing a vac gauge, timing light, and tach to make adjustments while up there?
Yes! Or do it “by ear”

Hoping to find someone. Heading to SAS from the Bay Area CA, that can transport a front runner rack for me.

PM sent.

Anyone need anything brought to SAS? I’ll be at Valley Hybrids the next few days…

Departing Morro Bay the 30th.

Pig is almost ready?

Just remembered several 80s with some high fuel tank pressure issues. I had the issue but not as bad as others.

Any obvious things we need to clean (Charcoal Filter Canister?) to make sure our tanks don't explode at high altitude? :)

The best thing you can do is run non-ethanol gas 😉

Just so you guys know, it has been at or around 100º in Durango for the last 3 or 4 days so you might experience some last minute trail openings due to substantial melting...haven't seen what the high country looks like north of town. But along with that, prepare for crazy hot if you're down at Durango's elevation during the day.

I won't be pushing hard to save tires. Nebraska all the way to Denver is a wasteland of wheat or less

I was crossing Nebraska at dusk once years ago with my mom. Flat as a pancake and then we see a dirt lot with a fence around it, and in the middle a little lump of dirt 30’ round and about 5’ tall. There were some goats in the dirt lot and one of them was standing on top of the hill. We joked that it was the highest point in the state and likely it’s only topographical feature, which made that goat the King of Nebraska. We laughed about that for hours and hours on our way to Ohio.

So if you’re crossing Nebraska keep an eye out for for that little dirt mound with the King of Nebraska somewhere between Kearney and North Platte on I-80.

Hey ya'll! I'm late to the party and planning has never been my strong suit. 😣 Was there a second group camp spot for those of us who missed the KOA boat? I know someone mentioned the Ouray Inn, but doesn't look like Guinness is welcome there.... Otherwise, just gonna roll in Sunday night and wing it, which is fine too. Drives the Husband crazy though....
