I think I can bring this with if I get creative and if somebody is interested in buying it.
Decided to just start from scratch rather than modify almost the whole thing.

I paid $1500 18 months ago.
Has some rust that needs repair, but overall fairly solid. I have the fenders and lights. Box needs to be bolted back on.

Spare tire in the box is a 40 wheel and not for the trailer.

There is a whole world over on Red mountain most never see. They are always open. We did 2 runs that way last year. Dj took us to a spot last year I had not even found yet. 2 trails maybe not open all the way will have no effect on the event there is sooooooooooooooo much to do. If I can talk my buddy Tony into letting bring a few up to his awesome mining claim maybe we can do some high country 1/2 pipe.

We are all about a trip to Tony's in the future. Just LOOOK at that ramp! I had the exact size ramp in my yard, Just way less of a view. That has to go down as the dopiest 1/2 pipe location ever...

My drive out starts a week from today. I have to go to Yuma to pick up the camper and then pick up the fam in Santa Fe. We are going to spend the week prior to the summit camping in the Conejos Valley and doing some fly fishing.

Elk Creek CG is pretty nice (el. H2O, others without, some first come first serve another is a dispersed one, just a 1/2 mile directly south of it. Several heading up towards Platoro, But also many others E of FDR 250, usually requiring reservation, FYI.. Just saying

Yep, I’ll be off of 250.

Is it Titled ?

When it rains it pours:

Did a compression test last week after feeling like the truck was low on power… 140, 75, 105, 105, 75, 130.

Finally got around to a leakdown test tonight. Results bad but inconclusive, I need to read more. On 2-5 the coolant level was rising in the filler and there were massive leaks out of both the crankcase and intake. All of those cylinders had visible pitting on the walls that was not there last fall when I bore scoped. Cylinder 1 leaked about 7% out of the crankcase and intake and had still had visible crosshatching. Cylinder 6 is tight as a drum.

Then my power steering pump started death rattling. All supplies for a Saginaw conversion are inbound as of today.

I’m gonna run this ****in thing rain or shine, 70psi or 200. Expect to see me, I’ll be going slow.

———
Oil pressure and temp gauges have never had so much as a weird blip. I even have a second temp gauge, and all three have read perfect. Air:fuel gauge has had no change. Engine still has decent vacuum at idle, and the in-cab vac gauge behavior hasn’t changed. 17inHg at idle here at 5200’ … equates to about 20.7inHg at sea level. No clue what happened to the motor.

The spare 2F is almost done being torn down so there’s my fall project. I guess Matilda gets a heart transplant.

Anyway, see y’all in Ouray.

Just go ahead and start a LS swap! I’ve got confidence in you making it. YOU GOT THIS!

I have a rebuilt head sitting on my shelf so I might throw that at it … kind of afraid of what I’ll find if I remove the existing head though.

In any case I have a spare 2F and I’m gonna stay 2F lifestyle. I’m no mechanic but I can get around these motors ok. An LS is waaaaay above my abilities. I just want a good running tractor.

I also found last night that the accelerator pump on my carb isn’t working. Not a huge deal but I feel like it’s death by 1000 cuts right now - two weeks before SAS. 🤦‍♂️

I feel your pain!! I think we are in the same ER!! 2 weeks before go time.....

Got the new bumper on, finally. Slowly working through stuff to get ready.

My son and I happened on this event/crew by accident last year after spending a few days back Country camping and fishing up on Stony. Ended up in first spot on left coming into Ouray KOA in our green FJ80 that I purchased sight unseen on FB Marketplace two weeks prior. 😅 We tagged along across a whole bunch of peaks with no spare, no tools, and some fishing tackle for 3 days. The good energy carried us across, but we will have tools and a spare this time.

As “unofficial” attendees, we found everyone to be super nice and helpful as well. Decided that this would be an event we had to attend this year, and registered early.

Can’t wait for this trip and to meet some of y’all! We will leave out of Odessa 7/28 ish.
