Well, considering he just asked "does it runs and drives perfect?" (after winning the auction) I don't think I'd let him buy it.... I mean, I'm not that much more sophisticated. I was glammed by the truck as well.

The saga is over. SOLD. Very nice, VERY capable member on mud bought it.
Good for you. In my opinion, eBay is good to get some visibility for a vehicle but you end up with some weirdos. The questions I got when my HZJ75 Troopy was listed were just crazy. In any event, hope the new buyer starts a build thread on this one.
Thank god I was so tempted to send you an offer but it was hard to justify so I’m glad I don’t have to think about it any more.

Kind of feel the same but a little disappointed too. This truck could have been part of a master plan years in the making.
Glad you got it sold but sorry you lost $$$ on it. As someone who also made a cruiser purchase mistake I understand how bad it sucks but live and learn.

Thanks. There were 3 people that wanted it north of 9k (2 were mud members). Had to honor a slightly lower price because I had made a promise.
If I didn't care about the timeline, someone would have stepped up at 10 or 11 for sure.
Let’s hope the new owner starts a build thread so we can also follow along.

Thank you. I don't think so -- the new owner has a long road ahead of him. He's a freakin' wizard and was the right person for the truck (I'm sure he'll reveal himself soon).
This price reflects reality, dictated by an actual market and demand. It's just where the chips fell this time.
I told him I got dibs if he puts it back up for sale... haha.

"Wizard" may be an overstatement; however, I am looking forward to digging into this project and having my kids learning to drive a stick on this. There is a possibility of having a FJ45, FJ75 and FJ85 in my driveway next year!
I will start a thread in the coming weeks, as I need help and direction. Will be a few months before I can dig into this project as I am working hard to finish a camping trailer before our trip to Moab next month. That has not stopped me from doing a lot of research on rebuilding the tranny and all sorts of other things.
Will you be going to cruise Moab ?
