Go back 2 pages to check, and see my first fj60 from 2007.
Wild.

Now running 33x10.5 R15 - Toyo Open Country MT's
Great tires...I like them just as much (if not more) as
the First Gen. MTR's from 5 years ago.

Very cool! Since my last posts in 2009 ( since I went SOA ), I've been through 3 different sets of tires:

1. 36x13.50r15 Mickey Thompson Baja Claws
- s***ty in mud, not too great on the rocks and halfway decent on the road

2. 35x12.50r15 Goodyear Wrangler MTRs ( old style )
- good in the rocks however they chunked easily, pretty good in the mud and halfway decent on the road ( somewhat loud, but tracked straight and never had a problem balancing )

3. 37x13.50r15 Pitbull Rocker Bias-ply
- Fricking amazing on the rocks and in mud, s***ty on the road. These tires wander and howl like no tomorrow on the pavement

4. Next set forthcoming :grinpimp:

33x10.5 BFGoodrich All-Terrains on 15x8 Eagle Alloy Wheels

e3edb94a.jpg

Had them for around 30,000 miles. They have some weird wear, and some faint cracking. Also I've nicked a few spots while off-road.

They work well off-road and on. I usually run about 35psi in them.

Since two years I drive BF Goodrich KM2 Mud/Terrain, 35x12.5/15. Still love those tires. A lot of grip, and not noisy. Could use 10 inch rims with a little more back space though... The other wheel is my 7 inch spare, while the other wheels are 8 inch.

Man, I must be the only person who hasn't been impressed with the KM2s. I've had old style MTRs, KM2s and new Kevlar MTRs on my truck. All in the 35x12.5R15 variety. The liked the old MTRs, they seemed to be a great all around tire. Drove nicely down the road, worked well off road. The KM2s have yet to impress me off road, though on road they drive well and arent too loud. The Kevlar MTRs, wow, by far my favorite tire I've driven on. I really did my best to hate the tire, they look so silly. But they flat out perform. In mud, rocks, even mud covered rocks they just chewed through. That said I've never driven them on the road, I borrowed them from a friend for a wheeling trip and trailered my truck. I did manage to put a 4in slice through the sidewall of his brand new MTR ending my day early and relieving my wallet of $250.:censor: That was an expensive day.

Seems like everyone really likes that BFG T/A ATs as the great all-rounder tire. Probably going to end up being one of the first major purchases when I find my cruiser unless it has good snow wheels. We don't get a lot of snow here in N. NV but going over the hill to CA to visit the rents and the few times we do get snow, I am going to want something that will do well in it. Road manners will be main priority with off-road/snow being secondary, like 70/30.

Red letter general grabbers best tire ever.

31/10.50-15 goodyear wrangler duratracs. quite, good road manners, and look cool.

Another set of Goodyear Duratracs.
Just got them last week:

How old are the tires? Lucky devil for having these....

i have 10 of them that about 7 years old. down to about 9, one of the 60s is about gone. the two spares are brand new. i'm going to take them and the best of the rest to make a set for the 40, the 60 is getting new 10.5s this summer.

Red letter general grabbers best tire ever.

ontharox any pictures of your red letters?

I love my duratracs but I have them studded and don't like the noise in hone summer. running some old bfg a/t. they're all right but are getting worn and a little out of balance. I plan on new summer tires next year.

View attachment 907838 Toyo Open Country MT 35 12.5 17 on FJ Cruiser wheels too (for now, may change wheels later) . So far I really like the tires, prior were BFG MT 33 12.5 15...never had any issues. I like the design of the Toyo all around better so far.

37 x 14.5 X 15 Maxxis Creepy Crawlers, bias Plies. Great on rocks and mud, wanders and howls on road.

IMG_5669.webp

37 X 12.5 X 16.5 Goodyear MT, radial plies. Great on roads, doesn't wander and not as loud. Does chunk out on rocks and are known to come off the rim if not beadlocked.
