Slee Front Bumper

Best looking front bumper I've ever seen.

Wish it was street legal at this side of the puddle.
(That's the way here; if it's not tested and approved for the vehicle, you can't use it legally)

Sweet 73! Does it look like it offers any advantage in the approach angle department over say the ARB?

Again from the pictures I see no advantage in the approach angle. Speaking of approach angle what are you getting with your ARB (be honest:flipoff2:). I get 40* approach with 285's on my TJM and much better on the ends/corners.

Oh, ARB sucks. TJM wasn't an option for me whatsoever. When did you buy yours? I bought mine in 2001. :D:flipoff2:

Like I said, if I had a 100 that was a dedicated wheeler, I'd make a mini bumper like I have for my 80's. I HOPE the Slee falls somewhere in between...though I'm with you...those pics don't show that and I think it's uglier than sin. Need other pics.

JOHN stop.

The Slee bumper sticks out less the ARB, I've parked both trucks next to each other. I've also put the bumper on slees truck several times while I was there, seen it in and out. The only thing that comes out close to the ARB in length is the recovery tabs.

The new Slee front bumper sticks out 6" from the lower grill bezel to the outer most bumper edge. The recovery tabs however move out from there.

For comparison: My TJM T3C without the hoop and rubber bumpers also measures a total of 6" from the grill bezel/trim to the outermost bumper edge.

I really like the overall construction, especially the wings, and the design. However having said that I have two wishes before putting down the mean green: I would prefer the recovery points to be moved to the upper portion of the bumper so that they do not protrude and some sort of winch cover (removable preferably) to keep all the road and trail crap off the winch (as well as UV for the $$$ syn line).

And yes: I understand the structural engineering point of having the recovery brackets in line with the typical direction of pull and the frame rails themselves. But having said that mine, which are not as robust in terms of integration to the bumper and frame rails, have performed many recoveries to date. I'm not arguing the point...just saying what I would want for me personally...

But...Christo's new Hundy bumper is damn stout...especially compared to my TJM.

Age has it privileges:flipoff2:

FWIW My TJM T-17 sticks out 5" and needs to move back 3/4" to line up properly with the fender(installers error) so net 4 1/4" installed properly.

Thanks to you guys for measuring the goods for us that cant be there but could you post some more picture of the bumper in discussion?:)

Of course it's a nice work, all my respect to the team but I still prefer the design of the Blueberry's front bumper

geez, you guys see one head on shot and you already know that it is to big. it is way smaller than a arb and way better appraoch. however I will post when I get back. this phone typing sucks. :) back to the camp fire and beers

I know this but nobody will listen!!! Christo, I expect a full report when you get back if you catch my drift.

But seriously, I love that rear bumper.

Slee, when you get back let me know what the options are for acomidating the second arm if you already have the original rear bumper with single arm......

Enjoy Moab!! :flipoff2:

Yoter, hate to say it but, you'll need more then just the DS arm...but let me stop actually helping. PM me

I'd like this thread to stay open, so please stick to Bumpers, folks...

But then it would break just like your 80's bumper did.

D'oh, Bilbo with the witty comeback!

Based on firsthand experience, IMHO ARBs (at least for the 100) are crap if your primary concern is approach angle. But that is because they fully enclose the winch, so for many that is a worthwhile trade-off. Christo has managed to do it with minimal waste of space. I like the new design myself, and some kind of winch cover for the open space would really cap it off (literally and figuratively)!

i love the chick in your avatar....i've seen her bumpers on Delta and they are nice.......nice nice bumpers..

OK, not bad... :)

I think a tongue shaped cover would be cool :)

Now that you point it out, the design does look like it was inspired by a wide open mouth. For marketing purposes, Slee might consider calling it the "Deep Throat" bumper. That should spike sales fer sure.

The 100 is a tough design build for bumpers: Front and rear. We want them to be very functional but also blend in to the curves of the 100. And some owners don't want to have to mod the frame members, etc. and to mostly have direct bolt-on bumpers. Throw in grill, hood and trim differences spread out over the 100 & LX470 platform and years and it makes it very challenging for the designer/fabber to provide the perfect bumpers for us.

Christo: I know you are in the home stretch so to speak with this bumper and it's current form has been the result of countless hours/days/years(!) for you and your staff but I wonder if you could: Raise the "mouth" edge a little to lessen the "gate mouth affect" but still allowing winch access? And could you move the recovery points...where the bow shackle attaches...a couple inches higher (not atop the bumper but just a little higher for lessened snagability?

FYI: I really really like the wings and left/right of the "gate mouth" in design and construction: This design appears to be the most robust of all bumpers yet to be designed for the Hundy.
