Decided to rehab my front end (grill and headlight bezels) They were looking a little sun baked. Did not want to go blacked out on this one so I taped off the chrome and went tot work. The Rust-o-leum paint I used is nearly an identical match to factory. The Soft Iron color is a shade darker but that worked for me.

It's kinda hard to tell by the pics, but did you paint the grill with the Soft Iron as well? Or did you paint the inside part black? Looks great!

@aaron9252 Everything that is not chrome is the Soft Iron. Looks fantastic now with the new Toyota emblem on!

Replaced the oil pan and gasket (thanks @beno ). Went smoothly. @HemiAlex hooked me up with a sweet "big filter"! Got a good look in the 1 and 2 cylinder and everything looks beautiful! No leaks as of yet.

And some help!

took it on a shakedown run last night (mix of freeway and town) about 15 miles. Woke up this morning and NO LEAKS!!!

So... I cheated? and put gasket on the pan then mated to block. Ultra Black between pan and gasket and bare cork between pan and block. I think this kept the oozing and movement to a minimum especially in the arches. Hardest part was popping the pan. Once it was off it looked great and I will probably clean it up and throw it on the classifieds soon. Thanks @klinetime574 for the help and wise words.

So a little update. Weird that there is so little to do now, mostly nit-picky stuff. Mounted some freebie (thanks @HemiAlex) Hellas and chased down some minor NVH annoyances. For the first time in my Cruiser life I now own a "leak free" vehicle. Threw out the old drip pan!!!!

Had a heart crashing moment about a month ago... Thought I would drain / flush / check the new trans / transfer case oil before buttoning it up for a year or so. As I removed the trans fill plug, nothing came out :(. Made a home made dipstick and was quite a bit low (1/3 qt.). No shifting problems were evident before this. Next removed the transfer fill plug and a torrent of 90 wt. comes pouring out! Great, I think to myself, I boogered up the input shaft seal on my overhaul and now I got to remove it all and do it again:bang:. So I refilled transmission and bled out transfer to see if I could drive it and diagnose a leak rate (bad seal or no seal). 150 miles later, checked and everything is at the top. No leakage / migration. ***Then it hits me... What I did was (I hate filling trans/transfer under the vehicle) I filled both outside vehicle before install thinking EASY! However, what I thought was level was not "installation level". Hence the over under fill. Checked again today (300 miles later) no change!

Other than that, just been driving the hell out of it!

Updating my build thread with @dnp excellent carpet kit. Had a upholsterer install and was happy to confirm the floor was absolutely free of rust! Very happy with the results. Old carpet wasn't awful but was not near as nice as everything else. Also gave me an opportunity to tuck better in my bluetooth center console stereo wiring.

Looks great!

Looks fantastic. I like the look of the wheel covers vs. The old vinyl

@erse David's carpet is top notch! The wheel covers and tailgate panels are very nice and thoughtful additions. Truly a complete set.

And no filler!

Ha! Yes! GLORY BE! I got to use @houstonfj40 filler (bondo) detector on this 60. I bought it painted so it was a bit of a leap of faith just relying on eyeball experience. The detector revealed no filler at all!!! A miracle!

Mobile pic post test. Getting with the times I suppose.

Wish I had that garage!

@vipergrhd Thanks! When / If ever you find yourself in South Houston, we'll work out a deal on the Bay Area and Naomi sign!

@DaFuzz Yup, lifelong skater here! There are probably a half a dozen more or so rolling around our in our vehicles. Never know when the urge or circumstances (LOL) will dictate an impromptu session.

Okay, so maybe an oddball question here...

If you were making the purchase right now, would you:

A: Stick with 15" steelies and 33x10.5R15s
B: Get 16" steelies and 255/85R16s

and why

The only reason I contemplate the 16"s is due to tire availability
and the fact that the 255/85R16 is just a tick more "tall/skinny"

Gorgeous look that I plan on completely copying. :)
