Can I get some opinions on this engine bay... Purchased this truck from across the country sight unseen because the story was so good. Single owner who threw money at it but is now too old to share what's been done. She's immaculate on the outside, original suspension and running gear...but looking at the engine bay it's had work. I have to get it licensed before I drive it anywhere, but I'm considering getting a compression check on the engine. The block looks painted and that might suggest rebuild.

Oh and the engine numbers match the VIN, so it's the original engine.
 
1987 2f, somewhere around 300k miles...was playing games with instrument clusters for a bunch of years...so not entirely sure how many it actually has.
Free of any and all smog requirements now.

My '86 FJ60 project vehicle is patiently awaiting the rebuilt 3FE. I plan on refurbishing the FJ62 axles and installing the OME suspension before dropping in the 3FE/H55f/FJ62 transfer case. The rear axle is awaiting paint - cleaning up the rear brake backing plates this weekend.

That is one of the last 5.3L Vortec crate motors that was available.

Oh why not. Desmogged w/ upgraded ignition. Needs a proper cleaning.

What's the diaphragm on the drivers middle fender? Cruise control?

What's the red box?

And could you give some details on the remote oil filter on the back passenger firewall? Curious of all the different mods.
