If you happen to come across a Monarch 10EE tool room lathe, my advice would be to jump all over it, The 10EE is a small lathe, but it"s one of the finest tool room lathes ever made, and is still in use by aerospace company's like NASA,

yup, this is one of the shops in NASA Ames. I'm lucky to have a 10EE in my home shop too.

making sure that lever does not get out of position, I see!

That's NASA level engineering there.

Can't help but remember that NASA lost the Mars Orbiter because they could not keep metric and imperial units straight... I hope that does not extend to lathe threading...

Many years ago I helped organize a national convention meeting for a professional group, and we hired Story Musgrave (look him up) as a motivational speaker. He was the guy that had to go up and fix the Hubble telescope. Fascinating guy.

I had dinner with him that night, he told me the mirror was out of calibration and wouldn't focus because someone assumed the wrong units when they were fitting the mirror with sensors. Said they never even tested it on the ground.

Imperial units are stupid and obsolete. Is an ounce a measure of volume, mass or force? Try doing calculations with 'slugs', that's exciting. Nobody in the design, engineering, scientific world uses IP units, but but average Joe American wants to know how much HP that rocket has and so many resist change to SI standards. Expecting units conversions between IP and SI standards is asking for trouble. Why were IP units used for the Mars Orbiter?

@Waorani Tho$e $ure look gorgeou$….💰

I’ve had that feeling on occasion and should have done some of my stuff sooner as well. When I finally did, I could not believe I had waited for so long to pull the trigger….congratulation$

Well I bought a tool yesterday. A Toyota-specific tool.

Nice, but I'd rather have the mill behind you, :)
That is a Wells Index knee mill. I picked that up from a place that used to make medallions for astronauts to take into space. The shop was located on Cape Canaveral and they were sadly shutting down. @cruisermatt told me that I needed to get over there and I ended up buying both a 13" South Bend lathe and that Wells Index. I am about half done with the lathe and have not started on the Index. And now I've gotten distracted by this new Toyota. And I leave to go back to Dubai in a couple of days.

Thought that might have been what you were alluding to in the previous video.
Will we be seeing a Toyota Forklift Truck resto-mod project thread soon?
More of a repair, cosmetics and return to service. This thing is pretty amazing even with the bum battery.

I've kinda flipped over painting everything in the shop with Light Ford Grey so I think the orange bits may go a bit grey.

a 1000 Ah at 48V? Yikes, that's a battery or 2 all right....
