Bringing this from the depths.

Nephews came up last weekend and we broke out the RC cars for a bit. Man, I forget how much fun they are. The TRX-4 was a hit and we played for an hour on a dirt pile in the back. It needs weight on the tires, so I'm going to pick up some brass parts to help with that. Going to start with some portal covers and see how they do for starters.

And while I was at it I pulled out the big gun. The Ole yeti XL. I've had a few new bits stashed away for it.

Swapped out the stock lowers for a set of aluminum ones.

And then I pulled all the shocks off and swapped the plastic caps for a set of aluminum ones and topped off the oil in all 4.

Shiney and red.

So a good wipe down and all seems ready to roll. Just need to pick up a couple of batteries since I can't seem to find my 3s packs that I ran with it. I'm going to order a pair of 2s packs because with the 3s packs it is almost undrivable, especially if I'm going to let a 7 year old who is trigger happy have a go at it.

Brass weighted portal boxes on the front. Got a set for the rear that I'll put on tomorrow.

Should help keep the front end planted. Definitely wont be doing any mud bogging now unless i want to find the bottom. We'll do some testing this weekend when the nephews come back.

Scale breakage...

Motor mount got loose and the pinion ate a few teeth off the spur today.

From all the Shiney specs, id say i know what all that grinding i heard was...

Time to upgrade some bits. Parts for the XL are kinda limited these days, so I'll have to see what I can find.

I am huge Camel Trophy fan. It is probably what lead me to offroading.

This RTR RC truck is insane.

More budget friendly and an LC.

I can’t believe I didn’t find this thread earlier. March this year I bought a little scx24 and some upgrades. Now I’m up to 9 1/24 and 1/18 crawlers. I’ve also got a couple more in the works. This is my latest work in progress and my favorite by a long shot. Painted by a good friend of mine. I started adding windows last night. More details to come.

Wild cool.

I’ve been thinking of getting one of these 1/24-1/18 scale crawlers to toy around with. Need to do more research to see which would be a good option. It was a ton of fun playing with Rob’s crawlers at GSMTR

I’ve been eying the 40 series that’s available from fms “for my son”.

Then I can play with it too

Nathan has been focused on his 1:1 rigs lately, and he's all grown up and off in college now. We don't do much with his RC's these days. We have a literal pile of them. I kinda like seeing them sitting there. It reminds me of the fun we had with them when he was younger. We'll get back into them sometime, and there they'll be...waiting.
