How do you guys deal with enablement backfires?

so I tried to link my buddy Stephan a trail finder 2 that matched his agent orange and in typical responsible fashion he politely declined. But then the next listing was this and I totally failed miserably at avoiding the shiny.

I consulted Mr. rushing, our local rc guru, and then completely went againstmost of his recomendations because, well, 45 ;) I kinda had a few plans for this type build anyways but the easy button presented itself and I pushed it.

oh well. Guess I’m gonna dive back in. Forgot so much I feel like I’m a newb again. Looking forward to some micro wrenching and hitting the trails soon.

now the painful wait for parts to make it go.

Rc4wd gellende chassis. Ext wheelbase
Chopped body with styrene bed.
Plan is to dominate share trail time with the boys next door and just have a general purpose fun rig. Have a feeling this may spur fixing up the crawler.

Are any of you guys members of the scale builders guild forum? I tried to register yesterday and while I can log in, I have No permissions. And I have not received any kind of email that I can find. Anyway, my primary reason for joining was to track down the current owner of the fj55 rock crawler that was modeled after the warpig that I am now the owner of. I'd love to purchase the truck from the current owner if it hasn't been repurposed over the years. Pardonmyn00b was the original builder and from what I could tell user delux was the last user that posted about it. If any of you know either of them, or know why I can't post over there, id appreciate any assistance.

Thank you.

Picture for reference of the warpig the day I brought it home a few weeks ago.

Well I was finally able to get logged in and post, but the message to the current owner has gotten no response, so I am looking at other alternatives. There is a guy on FB (mFab 4x4)that makes a nice 3d printed body kit that im going to try and source. The WB is 350mm which is long, but I was looking and the axial wraith looks like a really close match at 355. The pig has had the front axle moved forward and the wraiths 44/60 style axle looks more the part. So I guess I am going to try and get one of those beautiful bodies and see if it would fit 9n the wraith chassis, and if so, hack it up to fit.

The one thing that this exercise has done has made me drag out some of my rc stuff and now I want to get back at some of these things.

First on the list is this vintage mountaineer/bruiser.

Erin got me the complete rolling chassis for Christmas a few years ago and I never got much farther than getting a body set for it.

I picked up a new hilux body kit for it (old mountaineer style). I think I was intimidated by trying to sort out how to make the new and the old work together, but I am working on a plan.

Thinking about a new RC4WD 750 motor for it, matched with a hobbywing ESC. New steering and shifting servos, and a 4Ch radio and I hopefully can get it moving. Its a shame I've waited so long, but I think I can get it pieced together and then maybe move onto finishing my original wraith build. Then if once I can get my grubby hands on a piggy, I'll see what I can come up with for that. Should be fun to piddle with on these long winter nights.

Rather impressed with this tiny little guy. Picked it up for the Mrs when she said she wanted a little RC for her.

Yeah, I saw that pop up too. the only place I found that has it in stock for not a bizillion dollars is the same place I got the 4Runner from.
RocHobby Katana

It looks pretty sweet.

Well I know now why the katana was popping up on my work computer all of a sudden.

Andrea used it to buy me one.

Its being neglected while the 80 is sorted out sadly

What’s the wheel base for those? I have a model BJ44 I’m thinking about modifying for one of these.

Sometimes things have a way of working themselves after all. In an impressive display of one upsmanship fj40z finally fell for my enablement and brought home a traxxas trx4 for “the boys”.

I had to look high and low for their first mod for Christmas. Luckily I was able to locate them the official LR licensed 1:10 scale oil puddle

This is as good as an update as you can hope for currently. There the motor back together for Andrea's dad to hear while he is visiting.

Thank god it doesn’t have Lucas electronics!! Yeah we definitely have to make sure we don’t park this one on the carpet LOL. Good news is the Pro Line 40 series body is here and waiting for paint. I have been thinking of getting the boys a nice scale RC for a while but I really needed it to be somewhat capable, ready to run and off the shelf replacement parts so fixes would be as simple as possible for the novice I am. Did a little homework (which was pretty much just Jason saying the TRX4 was pretty nice) and decided to give it a shot and I’m glad I did. Had it about a month so far and it’s really impressive. The E-lockers are awesome and it seems to be well thought out and made. Got a 2 cell 5800 MAH lipo battery with it and I’m blown away with the run time we get from it. I will probably leave the Defender body on it a while and let the boys scratch it all up and get some more time under their belt before I switch it out to the 40 body. Any more input about it or things to watch out for with it is greatly appreciated.

Nathan has this one, but with the Blazer body. It's been a good truck. Locker servo has been the only issue so far.

We went with the TR4 Sport. always in low and always locked. cheaper for me to keep running and its been great. I would go ahead and buy a upgraded steering servo and have it on hand when the Traxxas one dies.

@roadstr6 Pretty sure sure Jason’s recommendation came from your recommendation so thank you very much!

@mwalls54 always glad to hear from and get advice from a fellow member of the Mingo county syndicate.
